Golden goal doesn't work in tournaments of this level. A game could go 200 mins with guys dropping like flies by the end. Theyd be toast for the next game.

I hate shootouts in hockey, it's terrible

Shootouts are awesome, crazy pressure on the goaltender as well as the kicker, my favorite thing in all of sports.

This.

So soccer fans want all their games decided this way?

Odd, soccer fans I know consider it a necessary evil

I personally enjoy it.

It's obvious you've never played the game at any real competitive level. You'd get why they have to go to PK's if you did.

But I get what you're doing. Troll on, good sir. Troll on.

I mean it is a necessary evil because you can't just keep running teams into the ground and hope someone can score a goal through attrition. I've always thought that the shootout was exciting as hell, both as a spectator and a player.

What does playing the sport have to do with anything?

You play basketball and football at a real competitive level?

If you had to choose, would you prefer the game end 3-2 with a goal in final seconds of extra time? Or in shootout?

I think the former is more true to the sport

Shootouts focus on a very limited aspect of the sport, in hockey or soccer

No, I can see both sides of the argument. It's really not a big issue with me.

I'm happy eitherway. Its not like teams don't practice for the possibility of it. Putting the ball into the net is one of the most basic skills that you practice since you first start playing soccer.

So should international basketball games go to a free throw competition?

Because if you did you would know how tired you are after playing a game and a half. There's nothing left in the legs. You can't just keep going on forever. That's what playing the game has to do with knowing what you're talking about.

Game decided by goalkeepers diving wrong way away from ball lol

Thank you. After 120 minutes everyone's legs are mush. The last player who can stand is the goalie. Make the best goalie win! Love PK's!

If its possible that two teams could go 30 minutes or longer without either one scoring a basket, it might be something worth considering.
