After this game, the bruises still won't be healed by Wednesday. Both teams just beat the crap out of each other.

Yea not sure if they can get enough rest to do it all over again in 4 days.

But, Croatia has a very talented roster. I think they have the best and most creative set of central mid-field duo. They have an excellent striker and couple of very good defenders. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they beat the English. Heck - I'd pick them if they didn't had to go to 130 minutes (including extra time) of football today.

Croatia has 5-6 world class players.
i've always liked the PKs. obviously players would be dead if there was no stoppage, but the PKs are exciting. it takes physical and mental skill from the both goalie and shooter, it's not a coin flip lol.

Coin flip reference isn't about skill level

Russia dude missed the net entirely. What great skill lol

1) the PK is a necessary evil to end games so players don't die and can't move on in tourney
2) but the PK isn't the highlight, the actual soccer game is. The PK is just a better version of flipping a coin

Not sure how you came up with that.

A system to decide a tie that is outside the standard sport

You're not making any sense. I hope you know that.

Kicker has to put the ball in the net but also make the goalie miss. He's not aiming for the center. On most occasions - kicker is aiming for the corners while also trying to fool the goalie that he's going the other way.

It's not easy as it looks and you make it sound it's pretty simple. Which is why you were asked earlier if you have ever played this game.

It's not. Penalty kicks are part of the game.

Did I say it's simple or easy? I'm laughing at the Russian fool. You really saying that was a great performance by him and he didn't s**t his pants?

5v5 PKs to decide game are not, they are special rules to settle a tie

What's the connection? Flopping is a sport?

How is it special rules? Is kicking a field goal in the NFL a special rule?

Penalty kicks are as much a part of soccer as anything else.

I never said anything about great performance. He missed - it happens to the best of them. Pressure got to him. But that's sports.

You're laughing at a player for missing a penalty kick. I'm guessing you think it's easy otherwise why are you laughing? I'm confused. Why are you laughing if you don't think it's easy?

Penalty kicks are as much a part of soccer as anything else.

A comparison is if at the end of an nfl game, teams start at 45 and must kick a FG. They get 5 chances, other team gets 5 chances

It's taking one aspect of a sport normally awarded based on events in regulation, and turning it into a skill challenge

What? You never laugh at anything when an athlete fails? Every single pro athlete has a billion times more talent than me. I still laugh when they goof
