How many NFL/NBA/MLB teams "in similar time zone" is one able to follow religiously? Nothing to do with that. Dutch have a great support for their own league. In the 70s - Ajax was the best Football club in the World. But, for last few decades - they've not been able to compete with other leagues. Not because local ppl stopped supporting them or they started supporting other European leagues because they have similar time zone.

And, Plenty of top European League games are played between 9am to 12pm pst on Saturdays and Sundays here in US. So, that is not an issue.

In US - soccer is competing with 4 other major sports. In Netherlands - it's no. 1 and competes with Vollyball and speed skating. That's why MLS isn't at the EPL or La Liga or Serie A level and it will never reach that level.

Do American soccer fans support MLS as much as Dutch support their leagues?

This whole topic started because I said US soccer sucks because it doesn't have the same fan support or importance in the US.

4ml brought up the Netherlands to counter that point

You said reason why US soccer team and MLS is inferior to Brits is because fans don't support it.

Netherlands is a perfect example to show that support from the fans doesn't lead to success of the league.

But, you (without any knowledge) said that Dutch support EPL and other European leagues and consider them local leagues because of the time zone looool (I've to give you credit for creativity - never heard that before). You support Seahawks, Cardinals and Rams too - because of the time zone?

I don't even know why you're arguing about something you've very little knowledge of. Do you go to to some Afghanistani forum and comment on their cricket team and which rules you like and don't like as well?

Wow, really? They've been in the news for years

What? I never said Dutch support other leagues. I said they are surrounded by competitive leagues that are essentially next door

Sharks being more popular than Earthquakes makes zero sense, almost no one in SJ plays or played the sport and no history. Why is that?
Doesn't Dutch best player play for Bayern or something?

I'm 200% sure that more Americans go watch MLS soccer than Dutch go to their league games.

Well I'd hope so since Netherlands is the size of Florida

Yes you did. You said Dutch consider EPL and other European leagues as local leagues due to similar local time zone lol

You do realize that Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid fans hate each their even though they live in the same city. And this is not like 49ers fans disliking Raiders fans. This is a real rivalry. Soccer fans of the same country clash over these clubs. Not clash on the forums - on the streets.

You should YouTube Ajax fans

Then why did you ask?

How else do you define support? Only way to quantify is by attendance and revenue. I'm sure US soccer has more fans and more revenue than Dutch soccer.

Revenue by ratio to national gdp
