Basically don't get your hopes up he's returning.

Have to admit that I am happy that Klay wont be getting the Super Max IF it means that the money they save will be spent on Looney. The most Klay can get from another team is 4 years and 140 million. He wont be going anywhere as long as Lacob doesnt try to low ball him and give him less than max money.

I am under the impression that he could make $190M for five years. Not sure though

Yes. With the Warriors he can make 190 for 5. The most he can make with any other team is 140 for 4.

More reason for him to leave right?

Not unless you think he will be willing to sacrifice 50 million dollars to sign with another team. There is zero chance that Klay leaves if Lacob gives him a max deal.

It is $3M per year and he gains a ton more respect, will likely make All-NBA as a star on a team by himself.

Call me a homer, but I cant see a player leaving $50M on the table for the possibility of more respect.

It isn't $50M. That is only if he makes $0 in year 5 after the 4 year contract. Which won't happen. In fact maybe the salary cap goes up so much that he actually makes more in year 5 as a FA. It is $12M being left on the table in those 4 years.

Klay will be 34 years old when he would come up for a new contract and will have played a LOT of minutes given all the extra games that the Warriors play in the playoffs. Who knows if he will be playing at a level that he can command anywhere near what the 5th year of a max deal will give him now. Not to mention that he could get hurt and not be the same.

The smart thing, and the thing he will do is to sign a max deal with the Warriors. And how does he gain a ton of respect by leaving a great team that he has been a main cog in winning titles? I think he would lose respect if anything.

Klay is about rings and being happy. He isnt leaving.

My point remains. I cant see anyone, let alone one who regularly claims he is loving life and couldnt be happier as a Warrior, leave $12M on the table...in favor of the possibility of more individual respect at the expense of team success. Plus, Klay is already respected as one of the best 2 way players in basketball and a future hall of Famer. So it's not like he needs to leave to somehow cement his legacy.

Exactly. Klay LOVES being a Warrior. He LOVES winning championships. He LOVES playing with Steph. Maybe I am crazy but when you love all that and can be paid 190 MILLION dollars it would be pretty stupid to leave. His own father has said there is not even a need to negotiate anything. Just give him the max and its a done deal.

Klay coming back is highly likely. All his girls are here and he'd never leave them.

I don't think they break up the big three originals any time soon.
