They always think outside the box. However, this is pretty much impossible. Even if KD and Cousins leave and Livingston retires they will still be over the cap and unable to give more than a mid level exemption and vet minimum deal to anyone outside their current team. Iggy isnt going to walk away from 16 million when he has played as well as he has this season. Sorry but this is pure fantasy.

How do they keep KD?

Come on Rish. Learn the rules. lol Lacob would pay a LOT of money in luxury tax by signing Klay and KD to max deals but he most certainly would. If KD left and the Dubs COULD, they would likely go hard after another elite free agent. But, the rules prohibit that from happening.

Why can't we sign another elite FA? That sounds like a dumb rule.

The Warriors would still be over the salary cap if KD leaves. That prohibits them from signing any player to more than the mid level exemption.

I think the main reason is to allow a team in a smaller market to compete with the bigger market teams, keep their stars. Keep teams from loading up with multiple elite players, an attempt at parity. Before you say "How were the Warriors able to get Durant then", that was a rare situation. It never would have happened if Curry wasn't signed to a ridiculously cheap deal (for a two time MVP) by NBA standards. That said, Durant could have signed for more with OKC but chose not to. Probably wanted to put Westbrook in his rear view mirror.
if you had to choose between Alfonzo Mckinnie or Michael Kidd Gilchrist as our SF next year, who would you rather have?
Please please PLEASE let KD traveling be a good sign for his health.

It would be a huge let down if either are starting on this team

well, that a given. lol

I'm just thinking if KD leaves, we wont be in the running for several of the better SFs on the FA market like Bojan Bogdanovic, Trevor Ariza, etc. Cap constraints and we wont be able to offer anything better than the MLE.

I wouldnt be happy if we used our MLE on Gilchrist. Last thing we need is a guy who cant shoot and lost playing time in Carolina because of it.

a more positive review

didnt know he has a $13M player option. So even he is above the GSW price range.
I was so high on MKG coming out of college. No thanks now.

He might be attractive to a team that needs a defensive stud on the front line. However, I just dont think he would be a good matchup for us given that we have the best defensive forward in the league already who also cant shoot.
