Jones allowing early goals again

If he struggles again this year and a solid goalie becomes available at the deadline, DW better pull the trigger.

I can't watch the game but per twitter seems it's just a cluster f**k of a game for us and not on all on jones
Short handed. LOL

Yeah. Not all on him.

Kind of hard to judge when we arent with Evander Kane and Erik Karlsson. Oh, well. See if we can bounce back.

Felt like Fred did, didn't see us winning while missing major stars on both offense and defense.
That 2nd goal we gave up was a killer. Such a stupid lazy set of passes.

I read that the score would've been worse if not for Jones.
I am going to go out on a limb and assume that its going to take awhile to get going this year. Lots of new faces and young players figuring out their role and how to play in the NHL. No Pavelski... New captain, lots of changes. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to gel and get some positive results going.
Whew this is fugly lol
You guys are playing against this year's Stanley cup winner. Nothing you can really do.

Also, I think the org likes to give younger players a test run early in the year. If it's like last year, then the coaches probably won't commit to their rotation and m.o. until after their first long road trip.

They should be fine over the course of the season. The top 2 lines and D pairing will be fine. And some young guys look like promising depth (Yurtaikin, Ferraro, Bergmann).

But, I think games 1 and 2 show that Vegas' depth is still better. They have a good combo of speed, physicality, and skill. IMO the Sharks give away the speed and physicality edge to Vegas and their overall skill might be even at best.

I think right now, as it was last year, a Sharks v. Vegas matchup really comes down to:
SJ line 1 + SJ line 2 + EK65 + Burns vs. VGK line 1 + VGK line 2 + Fleury + Bullying from Reaves

Assuming the coaches still want to play fast like Vegas, the only x-factors for SJ are:
1. Dalton Prout applies his one punch of death on Reaves
1a. Sharks acquire a couple real bullies.
2. Gambrell, Yurtaikin, and/or Bergmann develop Donskoi abilities (and don't get benched)
3. Ferraro, Heed, Carrick really step up and enable the end-to-end game (this could put Dillon and Vlasic on the hot seat)
4. Whoever's in goal becomes invincible to make up for shortcomings among the skaters
Horrendous start to the year, Jesus Christ.
