They are still trying to throw stretch passes and then grind it out down low. Which is fine, but they haven't figured out how to get from A to B while being onside and not coughing it up. That intermediate game needs some work. IIRC that was a common problem last year too.

On the plus side, Ferraro (L), Carrick (L), and Karlsson look good moving the puck. But, Simek, Vlasic, Dillon are also lefty, so we'll see how that shakes out.

new year same s**t PP and i cant believe they didnt fire Spott after last year. DW has to do something about the forward depth because even with Kane coming back were questionable as f**k. The D is going to be good but Jones still sucks and the forward depth is questionable, sucks injuries killed us last year because that was a very good shot at the cup. Its only 3 games but I dont feel as confident this year

Hearing grumblings about Pete DeBoer being on a scorching hot-seat right now. Can't say I'm surprised. To be a series away from another Cup Finals yet enter the year with a 3-game losing streak, doesn't inspire much confidence.

My first reaction is get angry and blame it on letting Pavelski go, but then I look at the Stars who were also in the playoffs last year, yet are getting smacked around to an 0-3 record this year too and Pavelski has 1 assist through 3 games.

I felt deboer shouldve been kicked to the curb when they were struggling last year, lost to Ottawa and Quenneville was available but no DW always seems to hold on to coaches way longer. The fact Deboer hasnt canned Spott for his pathetic PP should get him fired already. I was ok letting Pavs walk with the money he got and his age but I wouldve liked to see DW get aggressive adding another winger with scoring touch

Not Deboer's fault we don't have consistent goaltending. That has been Doug Wilson's Achilles heel and has probably cost us multiple Stanley cups.

Nabokov, Niemi, Jones... They just aren't that good.

I'm most worried about his scheme. Two offseasons ago he decided to copy VGK, but I'm not sure he's adapted it well enough to the talent they have. My concern is that this year's forward crop (albeit minus Kane) looks less suited to that style of play. I thought he would've adapted in the offseason, but thus far he seems to have doubled down. Hopefully, he (or someone) finds the right buttons to press.
