This is a lot of information to digest just two days before the start of the NHL regular season. It's a sad situation for a 29-year-old professional athlete to be in, but this isn't a situation unique to Kane. On the ice, it would be a significant blow to San Jose's chances of making the playoffs if he decided to opt up. But the power-forward clearly has bigger things to worry about than hockey right now."
