Might as well just make Posey the backup C and player manager.

I'm down with that

I always assumed Farhan already knew who he was going to hire but that doesn't seem to be the case

🤔

He might, but he's still going to do his due diligence.

If your main concern is keeping the players on the right track, and understanding basic baseball strategy, Posey actually makes a lot of sense. Obviously it would never happen, but I think it would work, as long as Posey was open minded to unconventional strategy. Who knows this locker room, and how to manage a pitching staff better than Buster?
so I read Ibanez said he doesn't want to manage so I guess we are getting stuck with Gabe

Ibanez must be waiting for a certain job. Kind of surprised he doesn't want the opening in KC or Philly, where he played a good part of his career. Maybe he's waiting for Seattle?

Carlos Beltran said hes only interested in the Mets job.

Could be Seattle. Was listening to Tim Kurkjian in the radio and he thought for sure Ibanez would be a fit in Seattle..eventually. Or slide into the Dodgers spot if that situation arose.

Beltran will be an interesting one to watch. I think it's interesting nowadays to see how the league is trending With managerial candidates. Seems like the younger, under the radar names, Or even a fairly recently retired players are the ones getting the call.

Matheny. I'd be down with it. I know a few don't, but I have a good friend who played under him, and he didn't fully lose the whole locker room. I'm quite sure he's grown as a coach. I'd rather go him than Kapler. I know he had issues with managing his pen (granted he din't have much to work with). A bunch of stories were overly fabricated from Fowler because he hated Matheny. Tony has voiced his support for Mike as well. I like catchers as managers. they seem to have a good feel.

Hard pass. I know plenty of Cardinals who said he is just a terrible manager, and easily the worst they have ever played for. Awful strategy, and he couldnt possibly manage the bullpen worse.

I would be livid if we sign Matheny.

I like Matheny - I hope he gets the job.
I trust Farhan and also trust that he will say HELL NO to Matheny.
