San Francisco Giants 2019 Off-season Thread

I like the Giants and baseball too much to boycott or anything of that nature.....but I will be beyond pissed off if Farhan signs Matheny. The "I trust Farhan" belief that I have would evaporate almost entirely if he signs Matheny.

Why? He's better than Kapler.

Some of the article....

"Tactically, Matheny was a hopeless case. A disaster. After 1,108 games as manager, including the postseason, the man was clueless about handling a pitching staff, and running a game.

Matheny's so-called leadership had become an open joke, a fraudulent claim derived out of need to justify keeping him in the office. Sure, Matheny was an effective and strong leader in his early seasons, until his flaws could no longer be kept under control. Matheny's promising leadership skill deteriorated under the strain of paranoia, insecurity, the obvious double standards with players. He showed favoritism with certain players, aloofness with other players. He let preferred veterans call the shots, just to make them happy and keep them on his side.

Any non-pet player that challenged Matheny immediately was relegated to non-person status. The dysfunction was obvious to those who paid attention and declined to live in Candy Land. When Yadier Molina goes on Instagram to blast the skipper, there's only one way for Matheny to go … out the door. It was just a matter of time.

Man, I didn't know - I now pledge my allegiance to anyone but Metheny.

I think he will get one of the managerial openings. Wouldnt surprise me at all if the Giants picked him.

I appreciate big Z taking his time with this.
Kotsay is viewed around the league as the "favored candidate" to be the new manager (but it's going to be a long process) per Baggs in this morning's article on The Athletic. We first interviewed him a couple days after the WC game. Zero chance of Matheny happening, the team hasn't even reached out to him

I haven't heard a peep about any interviews for the GM opening.
I think Kotsay with as the Barajas bench coach would be a great combo. They have known each other since high school.
