Might be their best shot. A bit of a red flag that Grifol didn't get the job from his own team, but maybe the current team had tuned out the Yost staff.
For a small market team at the bottom of the league, Matheny looking to rebound is actually a good flier for KC. I doubt it works out, but KC obviously prioritized experience.

Matheny is a terrible manager and couldnt be a worse fit for a team that is rebuilding.

According to Pavlovic it's down to 3: Espada, Grifol and Kapler.
I guess Kotsay is out?
I still think the choice will be Kapler.
I'm thinking Espada
November 4 is an important deadline for the #SFGiants. Within five days, they'll make decisions on Madison Bumgarner (an easy call) and Will Smith (a tough call) and hear from Tony Watson about his 2020 player option. https://t.co/ZpFq46s7VM

The #SFGiants are the best team of the decade with 3 World Series titles, no other team winning more than one; the #Dodgers the best regular-season team with 7 consecutive division titles; while the #Nats sit alone on the mountaintop as World Series champions entering new decade

Pablo Sandoval appears on the list the union provided of the 131 players who became free agents today. That means that Boston must have quietly declined his $19 million option for next year and paid his $5 million buyout.

I'm told Mark Kotsay definitely is out of the running for the Giants' managing job. So don't be surprised if your 2020 manager is Joe Espada, Pedro Grifol or Gabe Kapler. Farhan Zaidi likes them all. #sfgiants

I guess Nightengale has forgotten about the Boston Red Sox
