There is also a delusion that we passed up some premium prospects to keep him around for the 2nd half. Farhan was going to deal him if a team met the asking price, and nobody did. Its pretty obvious the Braves are kickoff themselves over not offering more, based on how their season ended.

Didnt read anything past the bolded because that is CLEARLY not what I was saying.

Why would anyone be eating crow then?
Apparently Espada's brother in law told someone Espada is going to be the next Giants manager, and now they're just negotiating terms.

Good, as long as it isn't Kapler.

What kind of compensation will we get from Bum, 1st round comp?
Per wiki, Espada's coaching career:

After retiring, Espada became a coach in the Marlins' organization. He served as the hitting coach of the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the Class A South Atlantic League in 2006 and for the Jupiter Hammerheads of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League in 2007. Espada spent the next two seasons as the Marlins' minor league infield coordinator.[2]

The Marlins named Espada as their third base coach prior to the 2010 season. He also coached for the Puerto Rican national baseball team during the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Espada served as the Marlins' third base coach through the 2013 season. After the season, he was reassigned to manage Jupiter, as the Marlins wanted Espada to gain managerial experience.[2] Instead, Espada took a job with the New York Yankees as a special assistant to General Manager Brian Cashman.[1]

On January 11, 2015, the Yankees hired Espada to be the team's new infield coach and third base coach.[6] He manages the Gigantes de Carolina of the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente in winter baseball.[7] Espada again coached the Puerto Rican team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.[8]

The Houston Astros hired Espada after the 2017 season to become their bench coach.[9]
hopefully Espada and Cole are good friends

3rd comp. IIRC.

Nothing special. Last year it would have been the 78th pick.

Because posters were adamant that making the choice to trade Bumgarner would have been a mistake. If he doesnt re-sign, not trading him was an idiotic decision that a lot of people were hoping for.

If he isnt back, not trading Bum was a colossal mistake.

lol but everyone with the opinion that we shouldn't trade him was expecting that would mean we would also extend him.

The two options were either trade him, or keep him and then re-sign him. If Farhan decides to let him walk after not trading him, hes the dummy, not the fans. Not trading Bum and then letting him go was by far the dumbest route, which I dont think anyone saw as an actual option. It makes no sense.

You're saying that a lot of fans were hoping the Giants would decide not to trade him last season, and then let him walk in free agency? I think literally no fan wanted that to happen. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you meant in the bolded text.

Steve lives in his own reality sometimes.
