Probably trying to put his staff together. Posey already had some time with Kapler, so he can communicate with Bum on Kapler's philosophy.

With Bum being a free agent, its not really appropriate for Kapler to be reaching out to campaign to him.

He's been on the job only a week. You make it sound like he's been here months.

Of course it is.

Convince him you won't pull him after 60 pitches of shutout baseball and of your vision for the team.
The manager should be a draw for free agents.

Anyone know what the Phillies players thought about Kapler, any support for keeping him when he was fired?

Lol man Giants fans would be lining up at Oracle Park with the pitch forks and ropes for Farhan if he picked up Puig. Just go watch his last game with the Reds (the brawl) when he didn't swing on a strike he thought was low he stepped out of the box and pouted for a good solid minute.

Hands down no fkn way. He has still yet to grow up

Puig is nothing compared to the PR Farhan is already dealing with after hiring Kapler.

At this point the Kapler thing has become ridiculous. MLB did a full investigation of the issue, and cleared Kapler of any wrongdoing. Not sure why Ann Killion couldn't have found that out before starting her witch hunt, which has stirred up a ton of unnecessary drama.

The only issue with Kapler is whether he can win.

Yes, I am more worried about how he sucked in Philly and losing MadBum because of him.

LOL at losing Bum because of Kapler. Where do you come up with this nonsense?

Their personalities don't seem like they would mesh and MadBum doesn't want to be pulled after 65 pitches of shutout baseball.

First off, that was a mistake Kapler made 2 years ago in his first game as a manager. Second, Bum would definitely get treated differently than other pitchers on staff.

Its all about money regardless. If we offer him the best deal, he'll come back.

How has he compared since to other managers?

It would have been more than money if BB were here. I think the manager and situation is a factor for Bumgarner. It isn't just about money.

Hopefully Madbum likes and respects him.

The manager doesn't reach out to free agents unless requested to do so by the GM and President of Operations. I'm sure that Kapler would meet with Bum if needed.

You are so fixated on one game where he pulled the starter early. Let it go. He didnt do it all the time and certainly wouldnt do that with Bum.
I dont think Bum is coming back regardless.
I can see Woo's comments now when Bum leaves to sign with Atlanta. It will be all Kaplers fault because Bum doesn't respect him. LOL. Never mind that Atlanta offered the most money, Atlanta is close to home, the Braves were his childhood team, they are a true WS contender, and the Giants are in a rebuild.

Bum is not coming back, I don't know why people keep putting up hope.

He should reach out to Bumgarner, I don't think it is inappropriate. Zaidi should encourage it.
Can you tell me if Kapler excelled at pitching changes since then? I am trying to get a feel for the guy's strengths.

What is he good at and how do the Phillies players feel about him?

There is always a chance but it does seem unlikely. I think it will come down to how much the Giants really want him back and how high the Braves are willing to go to bring him in. My gut tells me that the Giants are ready to move in another direction but I have nothing to base this on.

I dont know. I do know that our President of Operations knows him well and believes he is the right guy for the job. That is good enough for me. If Kapler fails then its on Zaidi. I am just not going to overreact like you are.

Why would he come back to a re-build? Atlanta makes too much sense for him.

I am not reacting. I am looking for some information on what the guy brings to the table, what he is good at, how his players feel about him.
