Can anyone come up with an example or 2 where closer by committee actually worked? Seriously asking.

I don't think he's trying to continue with it to "work"

It's more of a - who will step up. And then we adjust and that's our closer

I hope you are right, but that's not what he did in Philly.

I'm ok if he had to do it because he doesn't have a legit closer, but I'm not cool with saying you'll do it as a strategy. I think hiring Kapler was a mistake. I'm hoping I'm wrong but I don't think I will be.

I agree with you and am hoping Kapler said that because we dont really have a closer. But it seems to be strategic, as this is what he did in Philly too.

Someone I know was at a wedding that Kevin Pillar was at last night. Pillar drunkenly said he was signing with the Tigers.

TIFWIW.

Not sure why it would be a secret.

Well, I was just saying that my buddy said he was drunk. And he spilled news that hasnt been reported at all. Not saying it's a secret. And who knows if he was just messing around.

Pillar to Boston today. 1 yr 4.25 mill.
Lol

Why exactly did we let Pillar go but sign Pence?

Hey we Giants fans should be pumped for the 2020 draft. Not sure where we are picking? I'm assuming 10-15 at least. This is a deep class. Some good talent. I'm sure Vandy will have a few get picked in the top 15

We've had some nice few drafts as of late. Would like to see them continue this trend. Let's load up the system with some talent! I love college ball so maybe that's why I'm pumped. We're going to come away with some talent with that first pick

That's one of the downsides of baseball. I literally don't know anyone in college except someone who's getting a ton of publicity

And then we don't see these players in the pros for years

Whomp

I guess it's a downside if you don't like college ball, but an upside if you love college ball

A 1 million dollar savings? lol
Paying Gausman 9-10 million tho.
Whatever, I'm not being critical just curious. Pillar won the Willie Mac last year right?

Pillar was due like 10 mil in arbitration if we tendered him a contract. Pence cost us 3 mil.

I honestly think they want Pence around the clubhouse, LONG TERM. He's a valuable personality/leader for the team.

We draft 13th.
I could see Pence having a long term deal with us moving forward. Whether it be a coach, consultant, front office worker, whatever.
