Very surprising pick to say the least. I would have loved to see a power arm as I think the Giants have some elite position player prospects but very few top pitching prospects.

Just wonder how much Farhan loves Bart. He wasnt with the Giants when Joey was drafted and maybe he is looking to move him. Just talking here obviously but it truly doesnt make sense to have both Bart and Bailey as both are excellent defensive catchers and it doesnt seem smart to move either to another spot. Well if you need a top arm and don't see one in the draft you could always trade Bart for one. Stacking talent is always the best way to eventually get what you want

Maybe he's thinking the modern strategy of catching will be a time split to keep guys fresh. Have Bart/Bailey catch 50/50 and then DH or play 1B on the days when the other is behind the plate?

I thought the exact same thing, I forgot for a moment that Bart was Evans pick not Z's.

You guys realize that Zaidi likes versatile players and just because he took Bailey doesn't mean Bart is done here. They can always move Bart to another position because his bat and have Bailey be the catcher. I really don't understand the why the hell they take another catcher stance. Now I just need them to stock up on arms, they need to find a top rotational guy badly

No one is saying that Bart is done here. I just thought it was an interesting pick and one that surprised most people especially when pitching is a huge need. But, possibly Farhan knows that Bart can get him an elite starter. We just dont know.

Moving Bart at his age just makes zero sense to me. The guy is an excellent defensive catcher. He is a catcher not a first baseman at this point in his career. Maybe when he hits his 30s someone will move him to another spot but not before in my opinion.
