Great man though. Not knocking him. Just curious

So you would rather have them suffer then supported by a guy who can pay for their treatment?

From my understanding, this was a plan prior to March.

For those of you who care about service time, after Bart misses the first week of this werid season his clock doesn't start. So expect him starting very soon
There are idiots on social media right now giving Buster crap for his decision. It is so bad that JJ Watt called them out.
Anyone criticizing Buster is a coward. He's doing what a good man would do, protect and support his family.

Thats hilarious. This team is trash. Anyone not in the longterm plans sitting out and giving the club/players an edge is a bonus

Thought service time for rooks would be waived just for this season

They had tried twice before but lost out last minute when the mothers changed their minds about giving the baby up. This is something they wanted to do, and is pretty difficult to accomplish. You dont just hold off because of the current climate. You take it whenever you're lucky enough to get the opportunity.

9am press conference for Posey.

I'm expecting a retirement announcement.

He wasn't going to completely bail on the Giants. I think he has a couple years left in him, more as a mentor. A retirement now would've still been even more shocking than Patrick Willis' retirement.

I was just approaching this from the POV that there hasnt been a single player in all of sports who needed a press conference to announce an opt out. A retirement would have been completely out of the blue, but yeah thats the reason I posted that.

True, although Buster is the first bigger name player in sports to have officially opted out, right? As far as a team captain type guy. I think he wanted to explain to the fans why he was opting out, rather than just posting something on Twitter. Unfortunately there are so many idiots out there that he's still getting crap for it, even after a very understandable explanation.

The dude was the main cog in 3 WS titles, and somehow there are fans who still talk crap just because he dropped off recently due to wear and tear.

I mean someone has to adopt them right? Good on him, sad he won't play but not worth it

They should put cut outs with perforated heads of the journalists in the bleachers to help motivate the players to hit homers.
