***2019 NBA OFF-SEASON***

That would even be worse. The Warriors and Raptors both would have throttled any team from Europe or Asia. Basketball is super popular globally but most of the elite talent is still concentrated in the U.S.

Its like if South America had a single soccer team for the entire continent. They would never lose.

Its tough to get people to care for a 7 game series between the Hornets and Raptors. You know whos gonna win, and its just drawn out. Would you watch a 7 game series between the Titans and Chargers? Those ratings wouldnt be that good.

Its not just ratings. Even with far fewer games the NFL still makes a lot more revenue. NFL franchises individually are worth far more money.

And thats bc the way the nfl is set up. Its 16 games a year. If the nba was 16 games a year, and only one game in the playoffs, you would see ratings nearly as big. The nba finals 2 years ago or 3 was 12.7. If it was just one game between Cavs and GS, it wouldve been higher. Nba games would sell out consistantly if it was just once a week. Im not saying they would do better than the NFL, but it would be much closer ratings wise at least.

It's a fair point but what is the argument for basketball being #1 then? If we go to polls 37% have NFL as their favorite sport to just 11% basketball. I fail to see anywhere that b ball is winning outside of looking at the back of the jersey.

Agreed.

But I believe the global expansion Rishikesh was discussing was about developing the sport at the club competition level and how to go about it. Basketball is already widespread in other countries, we already have international competitions (Olympics, FIBA World Cup) every 2-4 years, and we have regional pro leagues in Europe, South America, Asia, Australia.

Whats the next step? A Champion's League or UEFA cup type competition that is held yearly? Somewhere in between the schedules of all these leagues and associations.

The problem is leveling the quality of teams (NBA teams versus everybody else) and the logistics.
Interdasting

Its not far more.

5 bil for Cowboy

4 bil for Knicks

Avg team 1.9 billion

Nfl 2.5 billion

Nba franchises have gone up by a lot. The past year alone was 18%.

Like i said twice already, they are not more popular, even with an nfl games format they wouldn't be, but it would be much closer.

Nba finals is a good gauge of were they can be.

Not going to happen. Players hate playing 82 games in the States no way would they sign up for this global stuff.

reducing the NBA schedule significantly would be an obvious starting point for any serious proposals
Seeing all the reports coming out that the Lakers were never really a consideration for Kawhi is hilarious to me.
Lol at anyone who actually thinks the NBA is better than NFL

In the US, you're right.

Worldwide? It's the NBA and it's not even close.
