so it appears "load management" will not be a big issue next season.

Lol at anyone who actually thinks the NBA is better than NFL

In the US, you're right.

Worldwide? It's the NBA and it's not even close.

No one gives a f**k about the NFL outside of North America and the US expat/overseas military population.

but worldwide popularity and generated revenues are not the same thing

And the NFL isn't even the same game anymore. You can't even really hit guys, which was partially the reason it was so popular.

Once the fantasy football fad declines and people get bored of average QBs throwing 5,000 yards, NFL probably will be second to the NBA. There was a time when MLB dominated American Sports. Now they are third. Things change, people change.

F**king stacked... damn. I'm bigger on Zubac and Harrell than many others.

Got a long ways to go before we get there. College football is still insanely popular and the average NFL game still has ridiculous ratings compared to other sports.

Magic starting to look like that favorite uncle who gets outed as a child molester and is forever banned from family gatherings.

Wrong FL team

Been saying that as well. I actually think he's a good fit for the Magic.

Would be amazing, they don't have the balls or money to do anything like that.

The NFL currently has 29 of the top 50 most valuable sports franchises.

Football is king globally (money is what matters)

Ratings dropping is a misnomer. They don't count streamers in the ratings. This includes Vue, Hulu+, Sling people I believe. Cable subscription is down everywhere because stream services offer the same channels for much cheaper and no contracts. Actual viewership isn't down and some who have tried to compute numbers on streamers believe it is actually up (this is for all sports).

Interesting... do you have links that discuss game viewership increasing? I have never heard that before, and based on friends/family, it seems as if people watch less full games in general.

I'd have to dig for an article talking about viewers overall being up. It's been nearly two years since I read that article and I don't remember the source. It might of been that statistical analysis site ESPN uses (538).

You can easily find articles talking about how stream viewers for sports are taking off. Here's one talking about how digital is soaring.

linky

This is why NFL hasn't given DirecTV sole ownership to ticket yet.

Fantasy fad? Lol. It's been widely popular for 20 years. It's not a fad.

Thanks bro.

Yeah, streaming has gone up and will continue to. Makes sense. Just curious to see how this impacts overall viewership.

Who the hell sits around for three and a half hours for NFL games, besides us with the Niners... I used to do that all day on Sunday, now just watch the entire Niner game, and watch bits/pieces of other games unless Mahomes is playing.

NFL games averaging 400k is crazy considering DirecTV makes Sunday Ticket so expensive. 2019 is their last year with exclusive rights. The NFL hasn't rewarded anyone with the rights yet. They are expected to open it up to multiple sources since it is the way of the future.

Welcome to 4 days ago. We discussed this in depth. But im sure Kawhi made the biggest decision of his life based off a small leak.

They're loaded at Guard and Forward positions. I fully expect them to do something about Center position. Can't expect Zubac and Harrell to play all the minutes at center in playoffs against elite big men.

Why not?

Bad defense. Harrell is undersized and Zubac is still learning. Someone credible posted defensive stats for Harrell and Zubac against all-star caliber bigs and it was well below average. If I find it again, I'll post it here.
Another glaring weakness for Clippers - no elite passers who can consistently create easy shots for others on the roster.

But, they're gonna be so amazing on perimeter defense and scoring - it'll more than make up for not having an elite playmaker.
