Russ has had clutch moments. He's younger, WAY more athletic, can get to the rim all day, is an elite one on one player, can rebound better than Paul, play better defense, and may be the "shake up" the Houston needs to get over the hump.

The only advantage Paul has in 2019 is wisdom over Russ. He may shoot better, but that is marginal. Russ had a subpar shooting season which wasn't the norm. He'll probably bounce back this year and have a chip on his shoulder.
LOL at Westbrook playing better defense than Chris Paul.

So much this. When I read that I actually laughed. All those trip doub's people drool over are partially fed by Westy sagging off his man to hopefully get a cheap rebound.

At this point in their career Westbrook is WAY WAY WAY more capable of guarding young, uber athletic guards on the perimeter. This isn't 2008. It's a joke you guys think Paul can play better defense than Westbrook now.

It's not that he isn't capable of playing better defense, it's the fact that he chooses to play poor defense all the time.

Ouch, baby Very ouch. lol

Paul's career is seeming more Melo like as time goes on.
Not really because Paul has had injuries and is a team player. Melo only cared about stats.

Paul picks and chooses also. Russ is asked to do everything so he has to conserve energy. Russ is hates by many people so he is taken for granted. I've seen him lock dudes down, and he can be a tenacious defender. Cp3 is not a good defender at this point of his career

Russ is a much better defender than Paul, at least in this point of their careers. Like Sac said, he can play great defense when he wants to. We will see if he decides to that, but he will have no choice if they want to make some noise.

Chris Paul... 9 time ALL NBA DEFENSE including 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 1ST TEAM
Russell Westbrook LOL That would be ZERO

I dont care what their ages are. Paul is still a better defender because Westbrook doesnt give a damn about playing defense. Maybe if he actually tried to play good defense I would change my mind.

We know his accolades, but he is a poor defender right now. Same with Rondo, both great in their prime, but really bad now. But thats what happens when you get old and lose some of that athleticism, especially agility.

No he isnt. He didnt go from being 1st team ALL Defense in 2017 to being a "poor defender" now. Nice try though

Here is the defense plus minus ratings for LAST season. You may notice Chris Paul is FIRST among PGs while Russell Westbrook is 32nd with a negative score. You are right about Rondo though. He was 78th. LOL

OK.. now tell me again why Westbrook is better on defense than Paul? Provide some support for your answer.

Sir, he is a totally different guy now. At his age, and frankly, his shape, each year is huge. Relatively speaking, he has been a bit soft physically compared to his peers (e.g. Russ). Cp3 is not beating Father Time and is not a good defender now. His past accolades aren't relevant in the 2019-20.

You might want to go check out the stats. It doesnt back you up at all. I do think last years stats are relevant. What else should we use??? I would like to see something from Gore or you to support your claim that Westbrook is better on defense than Paul though. I am not just talking about your eyes but some real stats and support.

Almost as bad as PFF lol. Hes better than Jrue, Beverly, Hill, Smart? And Curry and Rubio are top 15 best defensive PGs in the league?

Can? Sure Westbrook is capable ... but he doesnt. Paul is head and shoulders better defensively than Westbrook. Paul can struggle against a super quick guard hut he might be the smartest defender in the league. He is great at using his strength and lower center of gravity to bully other guards. He's also tremendous when forced to swap to a bigger wing.

Westbrook slacks on defense often and constantly abandons his assignment chasing rebounds.

He is a LOT better than Westbrook for sure. Anyone knows this. LOL One is an all time great defender who still plays defense while the other couldnt care less about that end of the court.
