Would be the best move for him to sign a 1+1 deal there. With that whole main core back and the league wide open, Toronto can make a run at another title and Leonard still has the option to run off as that group ages out.

yup and I think that makes a ton of sense, that's what ESPN was saying.... Once you're in the league for 10 yrs, you get 35% of the teams cap.

The East is pretty open and you gotta like the path to the finals there. The Raptors know to give Leonard "load management" throughout the yr and he'll be 29 after the two seasons. Bro can get stupid money after that in LA if he really wants.

He's 8 years in - so if he wants to do that - then he should sign 2+1 with Toronto or either of the LA teams.

I just don't see him passing a 4 or 5 year max deal. With how season ended for Durant and Klay - I will be surprised if he takes anything less than 4 or 5 years.

He can sign a 4 year max with opt out in 3rd and then sign the 10 year vet max (35% of cap).

Both Boston and Philly said that the reason they didn't trade for him was bc he was hell bent on going to LA. I think Raptors did as well as they could have to have a chance but if I have to bet (I wouldn't bet on it though bc Kawhi is unpredictable) - I think he goes to LA and he goes to Lakers bc he wants to win. Though he's capable of anything.

I swear Carmelo has gone from overrated to one of the most underrated players of all time.

Vince over Melo "easily"?!?! Sorry that is laughable.

All Stars: 10-8 in favor of Carmelo
All NBA: 6-2 in favor of Carmelo
Scoring champion: 1-0 in favor of Carmelo
Rookie of the year: 1-0 in favor of Vince

Those are their NBA accomplishments. And since you want to talk about "greatest dunk of all time," then its only fair to say:

Olympic Gold Medals: 3-0 in favor of Carmelo
Olympic Bronze Medal: 1-0 in favor of Carmelo

The fact that you claim that Vince over Melo "easily" is ridiculous.

I don't wanna go into laughable and ridiculous part of the post (that was not needed) but yes I'll take Melo over Vince Carter for sure.

The biggest knock on Melo for me is - he didn't do enough to improve his game drastically throughout his career. Also, he didn't work hard on his body. Had he done those things - he would have been a 30,000 pts scorer and considered one of the greats in the game as far as scoring is concerned. Dude was so skilled - he could score 25 without breaking a sweat. Problem was - he was contend with that.

But, even with that - I'll take him over Vince for sure...bc I think Vince has similar faults. He didn't really improve as much as he could have. He just is so much more athletic that he could cont to play even after losing couple of steps.

Saying "easily" implies that it is not even close. That is why I found it to be laughable and ridiculous. Because not only is it kind of close, the poster I am responding to has it backwards and says its not even close. That is wrong. Period.

Calm down lmao didnt mean to upset you so much. And yes I will still take Vince on my team over Melo. Melo has been nothing more than a very selfish player that plays no defense and can only rebound when there is nobody around him. Was always a locker room cancer too. Vince >>>Melo, easily.
Blazers trading Evan Turner to Hawks for Kent Bazemore.

I mean he can roll with Toronto for two yrs, still have a chance to win in the east and then get the richest contract in sports. Durant and Klay are still getting max deals even with the injuries they just got. Toronto will let him sit and rest like they did throughout the yr, which he's all about.

If I'm betting, he stays in Toronto for 2 yrs and then goes to LA...and if he goes to LA this yr it's to the Clippers.

I'm calm bro. The conversation is about who was better. Who you would take is a completely separate conversation. Like in their primes, I would take Deron Williams over Chris Paul, but I dont know that I could confidently say that DW was better than CP. Who I like better or who I would take is not the same as who was better.

Melo has had the better career than VC.

Any objections?

Bill Russell should be #6. LeBron has wore 23 the vast majority of his career so it's unfortunate he's off the grid but Russell did more with that #, as did MJ with 23.
Detroit needs to get Blake some help.

He at least gets on there with #6 with the Heat

I think what TJ was trying to say was that Bill Russell deserves #6 over Bron and MJ deserves #23. He shouldn't get on there with his Heat number.

LeBron is an all time great and even the biggest Bron haters have him as a top 5 player ever. But for the purposes of this jersey number game, Bron shouldn't be a part of it.

Indeed

As expected, Woj went from Raptors or Clippers to Raptors or SoCal. He earlier said Lakers won't even get a meeting and Kawhi's focus is solely on Raptors and Clippers - Lakers don't even have a shot at this.

Kawhi opting out as expected.

Raptors favorite to re-sign him but he's expected to meet other teams.

I think if he's taking meetings - there is a decent chance he's looking for reasons to leave.

My prediction - it'll be between Lakers and Raptors. Hopefully, coming back to SoCal will be a big pull. Lakers should tell him that he and his family will have whatever he wants.

lol. if he goes to LA it'll be with Clippers.

odds now are in favor of him staying in Toronto

No one really knows. Nothing is coming out of his camp yet. Chris Haynes just said that execs around the league think Toronto is favorite but no one really knows.
