2019-20 WORLD CHAMPION Los Angeles Lakers Thread

Regardless, they should try to get to 32M. That'll definitely get them 3-4 players worthy of playing big roles on a championship team.

Really hoping they can get McGee, Korver and another decent vet or two on minimum deals.

Part of me would rather have them surround Lebron with shooters and great role players rather than signing another max player.

If it's not Kawhi, I don't want kemba, kyrie, or D'angelo much, I'd rather have 3 more good players than one more ball dominant player as the max.

Lakers trying to pry away top assistant from the Warriors. Doubt they can...but that'll be a great addition.

Show him the money.

I'm glad the Lakers are doing this, but it seems like common sense. Of course they want to maximize the amount of money available to them. Even if they don't drop $32M on a max player, giving them $32M allows them to sign, say, a $12M player, a $12M player, and a $8M player. If they're only at $24M they're only looking at two out of three.

Definitely. Bonga and Wagner aren't going to do a whole lot this year or next. Focus has to be to go all out to win a chip this year.

Yea...go after Kawhi...and if they miss - then pivot to signing 3 really good role players to surround Bron and AD. Get one more player with exception and get 2-3 vets to take minimum. Get guys who can shoot and stretch the floor and can defend perimeter players.

You know what they're talkin' about at the ASG

This is my hope too. Personally I don't think there's any chance Kawhi signs here, I think that's a total pipe dream, and I don't even really consider it an option. It would be amazing though.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like Collison / Lopez / Seth Curry. Then like you said, sprinkle in a few vet min guys. Wouldn't mind McGee coming back, I'd love to see Korver reunite with LeBron (he's from LA and will probably get bought out), maybe even Rondo back. Yeah Rondo kinda sucks, but beggars can't be choosers when rounding out the roster.

C - Lopez ($10-12M)
PF - David
SF - LeBron
SG - Kuzma
PG - Collison ($10-12M)

Curry ($6-8M)
McGee
Korver
Rondo

I think something like this might be realistic. Just kinda spitballing with the numbers.
Danny Green is also a stud but I think he's gonna command a lot.

He's yet to get a big contract and i doubt he gets one any time soon. A team has to be dumb to give a 33 year old who averages 9 ppg big money.

He is coming off of a 4/$40M contract. I don't think it's unreasonable if he gets $10-12M a year over 2-3 years. That's not an exorbitant amount of money, but that prices him out of being, say, a third FA we sign. Remember, there's a lot of cap space floating around in the league, there's gonna be a lot of money in play.

Davis, Labron,Kuz, ...maybe D-Lo? I'm all for it!
LA BRAAEN
Woj on ESPN right now:

Kawhi's camp has kept their eye on the LAKERS depending on their cap situation. Its a RAPTORS & CLIPPERS race right now.

---------

This is a completely different take from couple of days ago - when Woj said Lakers have no chance at Kawhi...he is not even considering them.

Seems like - everyone is just 100% speculating about what Kawhi is gonna do and no one has any clue. Not even a hint of a clue to make an educated guess.
He coming.

I think Woj is guessing like the rest of us and doesnt have a clue what Kawhi will do. I still think he will go to the Clippers if he signs long term or stick in Toronto if he wants a 2 year with an opt out. Kawhi just doesnt seem like the kind of guy who wants to deal with the BS that comes with a Lebron team. We shall know soon though.

Who really knows? If I have to guess - I think Kawhi is the kind of guy who doesn't give a f**k about what drama media is cooking up.

He made 0 comments when the whole drama was unfolding in SA...he made 0 comments about his FA this season in Toronto. I think Kawhi is great at giving 0 f**ks about the media.

But, in the end - it's just opinion. But, narrative started changing on twitter last few days and now Woj is slowing hedging. Let's see what happens.
