That's who he personally wants to go to, they still gotta work out a deal of some kind to get him out of Barca (the alleged "free transfer" clause) and settle on new contract terms (if this is true)

It has to be a deal like Ronaldo's or better for Barca to let him go, something excess of $100 million. IMO

Barca might not have a choice though if that release clause is able to be triggered
That would make it the biggest buyout in history. I don't think any team would spend that kind of money. Neymar's buyout was around $220 million and it made huge headlines all over the world. Imagine $800 million plus. I think there would be some sort of negotiation to reduce that amount.

I already posted this yesterday. His buyout can be ignored if he wants to.

However, he's more likely to leave on a free due to the six-time Ballon d'Or winner having a special clause in his Barca contract that allows him to terminate his deal at the end of every season.

Negations will happen. Most likely Barca will get around the same amount that Juve paid for CR7, maybe an extra 20-40mil.

I agree, I think Ronaldo's deal was around $100 Million. But I am hoping for Messi to stay. He means so much for that team and the city.

Not the only reason to pick ManCity.

There are many reasons. That roster is pretty damn impressive and one of messi's closest friends (Aguero) is on the team.

It's so rare to see superstar strikers remain with the current club. defenders, midfielders, that's more common.

its in their DNA i guess, they want to prove themselves else where and take on a new a challenge, is what a lot of them have said in the past.

he's gone, and like said, Barca will get their next superstar soon anyways. and this is a perfect time to sell Messi. he still has 2-3 years of good futbol in him. in 3 years from now, you might be lucky to sell him to an MLS team for good money lol.
If Messi leaves, and Suarez is being kicked out, does Barca crack the top 3 in La Liga next year?

TBH - I thnk Suarez was done 2 years ago and should have been sold then.

They'd have to rely on Coutinho and Dembele (loool) and hope Fati grows up quickly. I think Griezmann could potentially play better but doubt it.

I think Barca is proper f**ked.

I think Messi goes to ManCity - gets Neymar to come there too.

There is a leave for free clause in Messi's contract. That free clause could only be activated by June 30th. The day was set that way bc season ends in May. With season postponed - messi's camp believes that date should move as well. Barca's current President is saying no - that date is set - which defeats the purpose of giving Messi a free release clause.

Imo Barca should let him go. He kept renewing his contract with a free release clause imbedded in new contracts. Barca shouldn't penalize Messi bc pandemic postponed the season.

Messi is being forced to stay against his wishes.

Pretty pathetic how Barca has handled this. Very disappointing. Just ridiculous.
