It's like asking Ronaldo to do it in the world Cup.

Except Ronaldo is a European champion.

Messi can't show up on the big stage. Dude can't beat Chile in Copa America, and got flat out beat by Roma and Liverpool in the Champions League. Literally, the most overrated athlete I've ever seen.

I am not bashing Ronaldo at all. I think we are very lucky to watch two of the best ever in Messi and Ronaldo. They are both getting older, so enjoy them while you can. Soccer dosn't work like the American sports. You don't have to win a World Cup or the UEFA to be the best.

Messi with his third goal today vs Mallorca. Suarez probably had the goal of the year.

That Suarez goal was ridiculous. I still can't believe he did that.

...and Messi gonna Messi. I grew up watching Maradona...he was my fav. player growing up. I can get pretty nostalgic about it...and for the longest time I believed he was the GOAT and no one could change my mind. Messi changed it and I don't have any problem if someone else doesn't feel this way...that's totally fine - but if you think he is the most overrated athlete - or isn't in the discussion - I've to question your soccer intelligence.

I was able to see Maradona, Ronaldo (original), Ronaldo (Portugal), and Messi. I think I can confidently say those are the 4 of the the top 5 or 6 players to have ever laced them up. Feel pretty lucky to have watched so much greatness.

No one cares about who you saw growing up. We all saw the same players growing up. And please don't compare a World Cup winning Maradona to world class choker Messi. Maradona was winning at Napoli. Messi would never survive in Serie A.

All instead of personally attacking people, why don't you provide some polemic and reasoning behind your idiotic posts.

Messi can't win the big one. Dude is a shell of a man, and can't handle the pressure of big games. Scoring goals in absolutely trash league against the likes of Osasuna, Las Palmas, etc. means nothing.

Dude choked against Chile multiple times, couldn't convert clutch PKs, and only needed Xabi, Iniesta, and plethora of other world class players to be relevant.

So next time, provide some real facts instead of insulting people

Yea, I missed the game against the almighty Mallorca (17th place in the standings)

Lol, you talk about soccer intelligence but fail to exhibit one. How can you blame one player for the failure of a team? BTW, I've been around to see Pele play.
I am not trying to insult you, but I can tell that you either have never played soccer or just simply don't understand it.

Winning a WC matters for players that play for the elite soccer nations, and Argentina has been a part of that group for a long time. You dont expect playes like Hagi or Stoichkov to win a WC bc their teams werent that great, just like with Portgual, they arent a power house. But not only has Messi failed at winning a WC but has performed very poorly on that stage. While Ronaldo has had exceptional games in the WC and Euro.

When your a great player and play for a great team, you need win a WC to be called the goat. Hes a great player, but hes not the goat and hes not better than Ronaldo.

First, I said nothing about soccer intelligence. I simply said you provide no reasonable polemic to argue your point. You simply attack people. It's weak AF. Stick to the topic. Give me a reasonable argument to prove your point.

Lol. Right. Grew up in the Bay Area from European immigrant parents. My father was played competitively in Europe and here in the states. I also played throughout high school and club soccer. Still play recreational outdoor. Nothing too competitive. Regardless, I don't fall for "Messi is the GOAT" nonsense, choosing to ignore his consistent failures. I look at facts. Like this fact:

Argentina hasn't been a powerhouse since the mid-90s.
