Steve, I dont disagree that the timing of the trade was influenced by getting under the tax both this year and next year. I dont think there is any doubt that it was. But, thats basically the only thing I agree with you on.
It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see that Dlo wasnt ever going to fit with the Dubs. He needs the ball in his hands and is best in a pick and roll offense. Sorry, but that isnt going to work with Klay and Steph or Kerr's offense. Yes he didnt get a chance to play with the Splash Brothers but I think most knowledgeable basketball people would agree that Russell was never going to flourish with the Dubs.
I am not a huge Wiggins fan but certainly wasnt a Dlo fan for this team either. I simply look at it as a deal where the Dubs improve their upside if ( and I agree its an if) Wiggins fits in with Klay and Steph while also getting an extremely valuable pick from Minnesota.
Also think Thompson is smoking crack if he thinks the Dubs could have gotten Wiggins and THREE #1 picks for Dlo. WTF!!
Things lined up well for the Warriors to get the deal done. If DLo gets hurt the W's would have been f**ked. I think there is some untapped potential in Wiggins and the picks just made sense. Not to mention the financial ramifications which were the main motivator in pushing to get the deal done at the deadline. Getting Wiggins some time in the offense and some playing time with Steph, Dray and maybe Klay is a bonus too. Head start into next year.
