Im going to (unbelievably) be in Alabama early November -- I'm going to go to this game, right now decent tickets are going for a grand for two, those of you who buy out of town tickets should I get the damn tickets or wait closer to game time. Don't want to wait to the last day and stress out...Thanks

Well, you have two options.
1) spend a decent amount of money for tickets now, and have peace of mind
2) Wait until hours/minutes before kickoff and spend substantially less than you would in option 1. However, you will not have peace of mind and will likely be stressed out all the way until the point you purchase the tickets.
If money is no object, buy them now. If you want to save money, wait. But with waiting comes stress.

$1,000 is way too much for a regular season College football game IMO. It's not a Conference Championship, College Football Playoff or National Championship game. I realize it's a really big game. But that is getting carried away.

Hell yeah man. That's how it is in the south. I recall being on leave, my Ol lady and I and some friends caught the GA-FL game in Jax (with Tebow) and we paid $250 ea.
I know the recent Notre Dame-GA game had tickets around $700 a pop. $1,000 sounds about right.

Crazy. I dont get it. Most players on the field will be working a bank job in a couple years.
Between the teams getting to write their own schedules, and a committee choosing who gets to play for the championship, college football seems so corrupt. Imagine if NFL teams got to schedule their own games, and then some governing body chose who played in the conference title games.

Fwiw, the game was amazing, my ears were ringing like a rock concert
Had some great pics of the Potus, he was nearby, we had better seats ( they love him there, standing O's..Alabama is a different planet than the Bay ). We headed south the next day. Ended up watching the Niner game at the Hard Rock casino in Biloxi Mississippi.another adventure
Props to the wife for putting up with my Football Jones.
