I'm ready to move on from the OG's, Posey, Belt and Crawford. It's been a fun ride but they bats aren't the same anymore

He hasn't pitched in four years. His arm will be so fresh. Probably win 12 games and we will trade him for a legit prospect. Great move!

LOL.

Actually, Belt and Crawford had solid years last year in the short season. But they will be gone after this year unless they signed for an extremely low base salary.

in 60 games, this year with the full 162 again it will probably be back to the injured belt and no production crawford

Agreed. It's silly to draw any conclusions from a 60 game season IMO. But to John's point, they were solid for us for that short season.

I am on board with saying goodbye to Belt and Crawford. Encourage it even. But I want to keep Posey as long as he wants to play. You can do far worse than having him manage the staff and bat 7th.

Im ok with all of them moving on unless Buster wanted to take a significant pay cut and role with the team. The Giants are basically in a rebuild with 2 of their top prospects being catchers. I would be surprised if he was with the Giants after next season.

Well yeah my unwritten assumption would be that he would come back for a much smaller amount.

And yeah I know two of our top prospects are catchers. I could be reading too much into it, but drafting a catcher in the 1st round right after we drafted Bart might give us a little insight to what Farhan thinks of Bart.

I'm not a fan of her at all. Going to be brutal

I wonder about that too. Farhan didnt draft Bart and may see him as a viable trade asset to go get a pitcher. Bailey is supposed to be the better defensive catcher.

I agree, although Bailey was probably the best prospect on the board at our pick. It definitely gives them flexibility. Bart got just enough playing time in 2020 to make me uneasy about his development. For being a college catcher drafted that high, he should've looked more prepared to play in the big leagues last year. I know he got hurt in 2019, but if he doesn't take a big step forward this season I think the Giants may look into trading him.

or Z could just keep Bailey at C, and Bart at 1B long term...
