Why did the NBA approve it? Who is this dude? This guy sounds like the opposite of what NBA wants from owners. It would be sad to see Hou turn into another Magic or Hornets like franchise.

He couldn't even afford the team himself. The old owner Leslie Alexander actually gave the dude a loan to buy the team which is insane.
So... How's he supposed to pay luxury tax?

With all due respect it's simple economics.

He's a "longtime Rockets fan" who is a restaurant and casino owner. He has like the Golden Nugget casino and I think landrys steakhouse chains if I'm not mistaken. He couldn't even afford the team himself. The old owner Leslie Alexander actually gave the dude a loan to buy the team which is insane. He knows nothing about basketball and he had his son Patrick who also knows nothing about basketball involved in basketball decisions.

Oh he also wrote a stupid book.

Wtf...

Only thing that makes sense.

He shouldn't own a team if he isn't willing to make moves to win or if he can't afford it.

If you a don't have the means to pay luxury tax - you shouldn't own a team lol

So... Just waste money just to waste it? What has throwing millions down the drain accomplished?
Why do you need to argue just for the sake of arguing. You already said the nba is garbage, why do you care so much?

I guess just having great owners like the Millers for the Jazz spoiled me. They were always willing to go over but only if there's a legit reason to. A first or second round exit is pointless to.

lol how do you improve a team that is losing in 1st or 2nd rd.?!? Definitely not by being hell bent on avoiding tax.

Did Millers ever win a championship? How are they great?!? They sound like the most overrated owners in nba history.

Recent history, what team has won a title without being over the luxury tax? It seems like thats a norm. Though i could be wrong.

By not paying 2 players that have accomplished nothing a majority of the salary.
