As I said there's no problem with the paying the luxury tax but why pay it for no reason?

Rockets are not winning a championship with Harden and Westbrook, plain and simple.

lol how do you improve a team that is losing in 1st or 2nd rd.?!? Definitely not by being hell bent on avoiding tax.

By not paying 2 players that have accomplished nothing a majority of the salary.

So players like Stockton and Malone? You think Jazz should have moved on from them.

Westbrook wasn't on the team when the team had a chance to win but Tilman refused the tax burden of resigning Ariza.

Interested to see how the play in tournament will work and if it helps increase interest. This league is s**tty right now.
Hou using FO anonymous sources to leak stuff basically means that Harden and Westbrook will be gone soon

Alexander brought a whole world of pain to rockets fans by selling to Frititta. I know he felt he was doing the right thing by selling it to a Houston Native but all he did is bring doom upon that franchise. Tilman is broke as f**k as sports team owners go. Rockets = new Kings.

and i absolutely f**king love it!

Writing is on the wall... I wouldn't come anywhere near Westbrook's contract

I told you bro! This dude is a f**king ass clown man. Single handily has destroyed Houston.

Why did the NBA approve it? Who is this dude? This guy sounds like the opposite of what NBA wants from owners. It would be sad to see Hou turn into another Magic or Hornets like franchise.

He couldn't even afford the team himself. The old owner Leslie Alexander actually gave the dude a loan to buy the team which is insane.
So... How's he supposed to pay luxury tax?

With all due respect it's simple economics.

He shouldn't own a team if he isn't willing to make moves to win or if he can't afford it.

This. Plenty of rich ass guys ready to buy teams. This guy must have some nudes of Silver

Guy's probably had some good luck in his life
However, owning casinos with limited gamblers, restaurants with limited diners, hoop team with limited fans...luck ran out

Stockton and Malone made the finals and if it wasn't for the greatest player in history would have multiple rings. If Harden and whomever were finals candidates I'd have no issue with the tax. My entire point is they are not a championship team. Paying millions upon millions for a quick exit is a waste of money.

They can go way over the tax and get more talent but they are not beating the Lakers or even Denver or GS.

Uhh...Stockton and Malone made NBA finals towards the end of their careers. Not when they were 30-32 years old.

They didn't have multiple rings or a single ring bc they couldn't make the nba finals even once during their primes.

And had Jazz given up on them - and not added Horny - Jazz wouldn't have made the nba finals ever.

I need some goddamn Draft news.
Of course the team isn't going to spend big with Harden and Westbrook already fallen apart. You guys are talking about Stockton and Malone (one of the more perfectly paired tandems of all time) with a pair that could barely make it out of 1 season together before imploding.

If it's something you can build around yeah they should spend but Houston had their chance. It's over. A fire sale and rebuild is all that's left.
