If any team backs out the season is over.

NBA referees are assembling to begin marching around the campus in support of the players who took a stand last night. ESPN Sources: Several key members of Lakers -- and some peers around league -- stayed up until early AM hours talking through issues in The Bubble. Among key players in league heading into 11 AM meeting, there's optimism about a majority of players wanting to continue playoffs.

"I'm told LeBron's message in the meeting was, 'We need to hold the owners more accountable. They are the ones in the position of power, have the financial resources.' His message was clear." — @ShamsCharania pic.twitter.com/xd1xLyh0DK

I understand, but the Clippers will end up playing. No professional sport will be cancelled over this

If this is just them trying to push the owners into a few things + get national attention on that voter movement and they'll be back in a week or so I don't see it as a big deal at all. I applaud the players for it too. If it tanks the season though that might them in the butt. With the virus the future profitability of sports is shaky to begin with.

Said as much yesterday - I think players would like owners to put their money where their mouth is. Help with the election - stop giving money to a racist president along with local/state officials - and most importantly...help with voter turnout when president (who had received a lot of money from these owners) is trying to suppress it.

To be fair, the owners are dropping a s**t load of money already ($300 million over 10). I hope the money is held accountable. Some times the money isn't the issue, but rather how it's spent and if people get greedy... like CA's state govt asking for more money. We give them so much revenue and counties don't even know what happened to funding earmarked for mental health programs, for example.
Glad playoffs are back on! They have a bigger platform while the season is going

That money is mostly going to minority owned businesses. To be honest - 300M over 10 years from 30 owners is 1M a year from each owner. That's really not much.
Also, I think players want their influence too. All the owners have direct contact with very powerful ppl.

$300 million dollars is a lot of money and can do a lot of good. Many owners (Sacramento owner comes to mind) also fund other social programs. The Kings have supported the BLM movement strongly after the Stephon Clark incident
I hear you on the influence part. That's more valuable, probably.
