Yeah f**k standing up for injustice when you have the platform to do so.

The NBA gave them that platform and look how that played out. They are now basically hostages to the players.

Not sure where you work, but maybe you should boycott going to work. Or use them for a platform to push divisive issues.

So when Lebron found out he wasn't going to get paid was he like "oh f**k this we playing?" Maybe I'm being pessimistic because nothing has changed yet and holding out from 3 days of basketball doesn't seem like much compared to the protesting in the country. But what was the end game here? The owners won't back you because they are still getting paid so you lose that avenue there with possible help with politicians who can actually make a change. I don't know. I feel like this was an opportunity for athletes across the country to really stand up and make a change. Get the owners in your corner who are losing money who have close ties with a lot of political leaders. It is what it is. Hopefully it's enough.

Bron doesn't care about the playoff check. It's like pennies to him. Stephen A reported he was upset because he was blindsided by the Bucks decision to strike. They didn't reach out to him first. He probably wanted to be included in any strike initiation. He's like MJ in terms of always being aware of branding. My theory is that he wanted to be the face of the movement, so he was upset yesterday.
Xing James took China's side for money...he cares. Dude wants to be a billionaire.

It's like comparing apples to oranges dude. It's not the same. I do not have the platform that these athletes have in making a change. I feel like they squandered a massive opportunity to actually have a break thru. They can control these owners pockets who many have deep political connections. You don't understand the impact these athletes have on society. It's massive.

I think we are arguing it from two different points of view.

I do not believe in using your employer as a platform whether it is Lebron James in the NBA, or some dude who collects shopping carts at walmart. The employer/employee relationship is the same to me.

The NBA basically gave the players that power (which is what you are ok with). Hell they even bent over backwards and decorated up the courts, let them customize their jerseys, etc.. And the players took that little bit of power and ran with it. Good luck to the NBA getting that power back now without being painted out as the bad guy.

Lebron got the NHL postponed too. Damn - the greatest of all.

Ya so don't participate in that platform that gives you massive impact on society. This is bulletproof logic.

It was harmless though. There's no fans, no lost $ over this. If they were unreasonable and ended the season I'd agree but a couple day stoppage in an empty arena hurts no one.

I was critical yesterday but I overreacted. I'm perfectly fine with what the players did.

Except they can't unless they want to risk the product that gave them the voice in the 1st place. You have to understand that this is a business and there's billions tied to these games. If players can just quit well the money that rolls in will reflect that. And with that future players won't have that same voice. LeBron and the players walked this one pretty well. He got what he wanted from the league, made a statement, but didn't disrespect his industry either.

Ya, if fans were involved here, this wouldn't have happened. You cant make fans drive to games pay all that money for it to be canceled.

But, people need to be fake outraged over stuff, even those that dont watch the NBA need to complain about this. Thoughts and prayers for them.

Completely agree with this.

I'm disappointed because the NHL cancellation was obviously a peer pressure thing, they didn't want to be the only league to not postpone games. I think that's different than postponing because its what you feel is right.

It's like saying BLM just so people wont think you're a racist.

So its a very-NHL type move...
