Gotta take a chance but that's hard to do when you're playing victim all the time.
This is categorically false unless you believe Garnett was lying on his ATS episode.

Lool Not the first time a NBA legend told a revised version of their career.

"The Boston trade isn't happening," Garnett's agent, Andy Miller, told ESPN.com's Chris Sheridan. "If a trade were to happen, that's not a destination that we're interested in pursuing."
"This would be a major trade that would affect a franchise and those in the organization, so you better be sure [he wants to be there long term]," said Miller, who informed the Wolves and Celtics late Wednesday that his client had no interest in playing for Boston.
Oh and the kicker - ppl thinking that old school guys didn't want to be traded and grind and build it...
Pierce's agent, Jeff Schwartz, told ESPN.com's Chad Ford on Friday that Pierce would love to play with KG and is still hoping the Celtics find a way to bring in a star. But if the Celtics can't bring in a star, Schwartz said he thinks Pierce will ask for a trade from Ainge.
"Danny's got to make a decision," Schwartz said. "It just won't make sense to keep Paul if the Celtics can't compete for a championship. They should trade him and get young players that can help them rebuild."

Fair enough. I would be curious to know if this quote from Garnetts agent has to do with the Celtics team or the city. AD, it was 100% to do with the city. Based on the fact that the Garnett trade was completed after Ray Allen arrived in Boston leads me to believe it was more of a team construction issue KG had, not that he simply didnt want to play in Boston.

He initially said he wanted to be in a warmer city and there was no chance he'd play in Boston. Garnett's agent said the exact same thing that AD's agent said to Boston. Basically, don't give up your assets bc my client won't re-sign.
Ainge had to make other moves. When they traded for Ray Allen - Danny Ainge met with Garnett in person and was able to convince him on forming a big 3.
So, I guess - Kevin Garnett - the biggest trash talker and one of the most competitive dudes of the late 90s and 2000s wanted an easier path to the championship.

From what I'm seeing that was pre trading for Ray Allen. Boston would have never traded for him if they thought he was a 1 year rental. KG didn't think they had enough but once they got Allen it became a different ballgame.
Having Paul Pierce then acquiring Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett is not something that happens every off-season. Sometimes sh aligns for you. It didn't with Davis and it needs to be said this is Boston. An iconic NBA franchise. You think Memphis is ever getting those circumstances to align?

I mean Artest was a 20+ point scorer, all star and defensive player of the year before and you're just ignoring Gasol who is a fringe Hall of Fame player. Yup they added no one. I'm sure that's just as good of a supporting cast of Andre Kirilenko and Carlos Boozer. Kobe would of won 9 titles with that.

Gasol is a fringe Hall of Fame player because he became an All-NBA player playing with Kobe. Kobe never gets the respect he deserves in this regard. People try to diminish Kobe because he played with the great Pau Gasol.....but Pau wasnt even close to the player he was before teaming up with Kobe.

Dude I know what you are doing just stop. Garnett played a dozen years in Minnesota and the only success the team had was because of him. Then he finally decides that he wants to leave the city in attempt to win, a decision that by all accounts was a difficult decision for him. The Celtics were one of the worst teams in basketball before Ray Allen and KG got there. Of course he wasnt all that interested in Boston prior to them making other moves. They were awful.

That is true and I didn't mean it to disrespect Kobe. Just saying he's not winning with Boozer. The guy had a really good cast around him.

Sorry I didnt mean you were disrespecting him. I just mean that people have this opinion of what Gasol was.....and what he was wasnt more than a fringe All Star player before going to the Lakers.

Point was - superstars in the past have also demanded trades or asked FO for better teammates or tried to form superteams in FA or force a trade away or to a certain team(s). We are exposed to it more bc there are 100 different media outlets and hundreds and thousands of ppl are repeating and discussing about it on social media.
Paul Pierce was going to ask to be trade that off-season if they didn't land stars to help him win.
Garnett didn't want to go to Boston if he couldn't form possibly the best team in the NBA.
Kobe demanded trade from lakers
Shaq demanded trade from lakers
Duncan was going to leave SA for Orlando to play with McGrady and Grant Hill - if Doc Rivers didn't deny his request to bring wife/gf on the team team.
Iverson demanded trade from sixers
Barkley forced his trade from Sixers to Suns
etc etc etc
