So, again - I ask you - which star or superstar joined the Lakers on their own volition between Shaq's and Lebron's Free Agency decisions?!? That's more than 20 years between them.

I suggest you reread what you wrote (post 112). You just said what superstars joined them between Shaq and LeBron. And Gasol did say trade me to a contender. You can't say 29 teams had the option of him. It really just a few with Memphis taking a very questionable trade package for him. It kind of worked out with Marc though.

Pau Gasol didn't demand it. He said he was unhappy about the trade. Yes, any team could have traded for him. But, Grizzlies wanted to do right by him. Good for them.

Anyway, the entire argument was started bc a fan of small team was whining about stars going to big market teams only. Lakers trading for Gasol isn't an example of Gasol pointing to a big market team and forcing Grizzlies hand. He didn't join Lakers - he was traded there without his knowledge.

Imagine if Lakers or Klutch or Lebron were running this scheme...

He did request a trade and to go to a contender. Memphis honored that request.
There's not 29 contenders. There's like 4 and those 4 are usually LA because they can land a Shaq or keep a Kobe. Now he may of preferred going elsewhere but the result here was the same. It was such a fair trade that Popovich called it out as a joke. I think I'd be pretty salty too if I had to land every pick in the 20's to be a contender while they get handed all stars for Kwame Brown.

Klutch got paid for doing nearly the same thing, that's really the only difference. Well... that and AD wasn't a free agent like Kawhi was. AD held an entire organization hostage while him and his "agents" committed blatant tampering. But I appreciate the double standards.

You're right - not 29 teams. But, there were more than 4 contenders and Lakers weren't a contender before Pau was trade there. There were a low playoff team. So, a lot of teams could have had him - 10 other teams could have had him. Again - at no point Pau mentioned the lakers or any certain team to be the destination.

Pop is always whining. He's the greatest coach of all time but dude is always whining. He trade Kawhi for DeRozan out of spite for the Lakers and destroyed the future of his franchise.

And Jerry West traded Pau for Marc Gasol - knowing he is gonna be a star. Trade worked out great for Grizzlies as well.

Oh and Shaq did request a trade out of the lakers and so did Kobe. Shaq was granted his request and ownership said no to Kobe and promised him to improve the team. They came thru and Kobe stayed.

Again, most great players don't have patience for bad management. Didn't in the 90s - didn't in the 2000s and won't in be future - regardless of the market.

Good for him. He deserves it. Hope Milwaukee makes noise this year

I am really really happy Giannis is signing his supermax deal with Bucks.

Bucks went bold this offseason and landed him Jrue Holiday by trading future unprotected draft picks. That's the only way to get stars now. With Jrue and Middleton - Bucks have given Giannis an opportunity to really win. That's all what most superstars really want from their FO.

Good for them and a lesson to all the small or big market teams on how to build and keep your superstar happy.

Hope Jrue stays long term too and expect see Bucks, Nets, and Sixers fight it out this season in the East.

Worth more and great deal for Bucks.

So much for small market teams can't retain their superstars. Wished the Bogi deal went thru - that would have put Bucks on par with Nets imho.

Still, Bucks put their future on line to land a really really good and very underrated player in Jrue.
Now he just needs to learn how to shoot. Should
Be able to hire someone with that money I've never seen a star player be so mediocre at shooting who wasn't a PF/C
We still on this "Gasol was a superstar" thing? He wasnt even close to a superstar before his time in Los Angeles. He wasnt even a perennial All Star. Kobe is the reason Gasol is thought of how he is thought of these days. He wasnt like that before.

You've never seen a 7 footer be bad at shooting?
