I'm not even a huge fan of Conley and hate his contract. Sadly with guys like you know who they HAVE to steal all the talent to carry them and buy them rings. Utah doesn't have that luxury, wish they did but the moochers would never come to Utah or another small market team because they know they are worthless without another top 5 player like some. Again these so called greats can't make the playoffs or get out of the second round without it.

We're on the same page here. I was mocking the people who think adding Conley's broke down @ at 34 mil is buying a title. It was buying the 4 seed so they can keep Donovan. Which was the right move. Trading away Mitchell to rent x player for a year doesn't make much sense.

lol trading for Conley was not a good move at all. Pacers got Malcolm Brogdon for a future 1st and 2nd rd picks and signed him to a 4 year 21m per year contract.

Yeah but Brogdon would have to agree to signing a deal with the Jazz. No proof of that possibility.

If you're Salt Lake City and you're losing to Indianapolis - then don't blame the big market teams. You need to put yourself in position to attract players.

And regardless - you don't trade for injury prone Mike Conley and his 70m dollar contract.

Clippers just had to pay 225 to PG to keep him. Every team has to overpay to keep star players who don't deserve max contract. That's the nature of business. You think it will look great when PG is 34 and earning 50m dollars?

Sure you can because Brogdon ain't sh anyways. What are you pretending that he was the difference to the Finals. Please. He's a good player but he's not the guy people talk about when they say the big markets have the advantage. Not by a long shot. You're talking about guy who Milwaukee just let walk out of the building.

And that may be a hefty price tag to pay for George but they're not sweating the luxury tax.

Utah already have 2 stars on the team with Gobert and Mitchell. They don't need a 3rd star. They needed to build around them. They blew several draft picks - and Conley's trade and had they hit on them - they'd probably have a real contender right now.

No superstar joined Nuggets or Mavs either - but they've put themselves in position to be real contenders or a very attractive FA destination.

And, can you name me the list of superstars that joined the Lakers after Shaq came to the lakers and before Lebron joined the Lakers. That's 20 years at least. And Lakers had to trade everyone on the roster to get AD and he was only signed for 1 year.

How many superstars have joined the Bulls since MJ left?

Forgot to mention in earlier post - Porzingis and Jimmy Butler were also available via trade.

Hmm...

It's preseason but Lamelo Ball looks like s**t

Wanna see Steph just goes and drops 35 a night and take and make crazy shots!
You keep mentioning all these players for trade yet you always emphasize the power of the players. How many of those superstars you've mentioned in the last two pages do you think would have actually suited up for Utah had the Jazz traded for them? Brogdan sure but who else? Harden? No. George? No. Paul? No. Butler? No. Porzingis? No.Etc. all these guys would have held out and the Jazz front office probably knew all that and that's why they didn't waste their time. I wanted them to go after Holiday last year, personally, but I can see why they had to settle Conley. Teams aren't able to bring in whoever they want even if they have the assets to get them anymore because the players now run the league.

Why wouldn't superstars play for the jazz if they were traded there? I was told they have a budding nucleus and SLC is a wonderful place to live.
