2024 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

If Ohtani signs with Toronto and the Giants sign Yamamoto and Lee I will be very happy. I thought all along that Ohtani would be a Dodger so this wouldnt be too bad at all.

Don't stop there, let's get Chapman in the mix

No thanks if the contract is for 150M as has been speculated. I just dont think he is worth that.

My issue with this is that none of us have any idea if Yamamoto and/or Lee will be any good. Yeah, that would be a great consolation prize...but still a huge risk regardless.

as is said, you risk with adding guys, you risk with not adding em also
what we cannot afford to do, is stand pat
I kinda want to see this roster as remade as is possible

They are objectively talented and young

I kind of think we do or there wouldnt be a ton of teams in on Yamamoto for huge money. Japanese pitchers have an excellent track record of success when coming over and Yamamoto is probably the most accomplished of them all.
Eh sad being a giants fan these days, nobody wants to come here, missed on Bryce , Stanton , judge and now Ohtani , guess it's on to the second tier players yay

So was Joey Bart. So was Gary Brown. Objectively talented and young doesn't mean anything.
I'd be totally down to sign Jung Hoo Lee. The thing is, he could take a season or 2 to really develop. From everything I have read, the KBO is somewhere between AA and AAA level of talent. There could be a major learning curve.

Look at Ha-Seong Kim. He didn't become a really good player until year 3.

Our last big FA signing was Barry Bonds.

I won't argue with this but I will point out he has a nice swing and he raked in the WBC. But to your point on the KBO…Mike Tauchman was an all star two years ago in the KBO before returning to the cubs.
