Yea that's what magic Johnson's unlimited money does , they will probably get Yamamoto too cause dodgers usually get whoever they go after

For 700M the Giants can sign Bellinger, Lee, and Yamamoto which makes them a playoff contender. Farhan needs to get it done NOW!
Yeah see again this is my problem. We all know won't be getting those 3 guys. So basically we are justifying not overspending on the best player in baseball because of the false pretense that we would spread $70M (yearly) out on high level players instead.

They didn't pass on him. They failed to land him. Big difference. If they add 3 good pieces I'm good with it. If they don't, this team will be another boring team with no stars.

Id rather overspend on the best player in the game than overspend on a player or two that won't move the needle and save $500M.

I will reserve judgement until the remaining free agents have signed. I still believe the Giants are going to land 2 significant players because they know what will happen to their fan base if they dont.

I have believed for a LONG time that Ohtani was going to sign with LA if they made a big offer. This should not be a surprise. If nothing else, the Giants interest ,along with others, made the Dodgers overpay

Dave Roberts might be the biggest reason to NOT go to LA.
ok. I predict this is where he lands for 600 mil. Ohtani going to a lot of teams isnt that big of a deal. He was on the Angels with Trout and they couldn't win s**t. You need more than just Ohtani. But Ohtani on the Dodgers is a real f**king problem.

See above. I thought LA also. But the giants were heavily involved and failed again. No matter how we try and spin it.

This is stupid on 2 counts. One the Dodgers didn't need him to bring in fans. They already draw well. Two they've had a loaded lineup for years and have one wprld series title to show for it. That was in the shortened Covid year. Baseball isn't like basketball where one star can make a huge difference. There's also no guarantee that he'll be the same in 2025 when he starts pitching again.
Good news for Giants fans. Now the Giants can concentrate on other free agents that they have a better chance of signing.
Yeah I'm not that mad at $700 million. Bankruptcy time lol
That's crazy.
Ohtani deferring a lot of his pay - so it's not making a hunt dent on the payroll
