Let's be honest, would you rather have this deal or the Shohei deal, which is 10 year 700m (forget the deferred, they have to pay it all out eventually)
do i have the homer goggles on here, or do we say our deal is better?
Shohei isn't gonna pitch next season, and that's comical money for all of a players 30s, what happens if he hits the wall at 34
Yes.

Finally some excitement added to the roster
You and Garce are aware one of the 5 tools is hitting for power, right?
His power has developed each year. I can't see why he can't have the potential to be consistently a 20-20 guy.

I would rather have Shohei but what are you going to do? That ship has sailed.

Can't be mad at Farhan if they presented Ohtani with the same exact deal but LA obviously has the better team he can win with now

at that ridiculous price? maybe revisit in 4-5 years, when Shohei is running into a wall known as father time, and our guy is still on contract and not yet 30 or barely..
At the price for Shohei, he basically has to be the two way stud for most all a decade, if he's pitching or hitting only as skills erode, it's a gigantic overpay, next year he's not pitching already, just a fat contract DH

Ohtani camp presented Giants the exact deal that Ohtani ended up finalizing with LA. "We were agreeable to it," Zaidi said. Then Giants were told it was in Ohtani's hands. Obviously, Shohei picked Dodgers.

I was willing to do it without deferment. The deferment makes the deal a no brainer. The giants would make 10x that amount off of Shohei over 20 years during the span of the contract.

this was looked into, Shohei nets somewhere in the teens to $20m annual, and that's MVP level Shohei,
do the math on how that adds up to 10x the contract amount, you are talking $7b
