Okay. I"m not excited by Lee. The Korean league is considered about AAA level at best. Let's see how he does in the majors. I hear he's fast and a good defender. Great. We've had a lot of those types in recent years. This team needs a big bat with consistent power in the middle of the lineup.

You dont pay 150M for a gold glover at a corner who hits .229. I dont give a damn how good his defense is.

Agreed with this.

Get used to it. It's going to be a topic we discuss all offseason long. Especially if we don't really sign anyone else notable.

I like the Lee signing. I really do. But I expect him to take 2 years to adjust to the Major leagues and then bounce after 2 years because we not surprisingly gave him an opt out.

"Something I think is noteworthy, something that unfortunately keeps popping up from players and even the players' wives is there's a bit of an uneasiness with the city itself, as far as the state of the city, with crime, with drugs," Posey explained to Baggarly. "Whether that's all completely fair or not, perception is reality. It's a frustrating cycle, I think, and not just with baseball. Baseball is secondary to life and the important things in life. But as far as a free-agent pursuit goes, I have seen that it does affect things."

The City is part of the problem according to Posey.
Wanted bellinger but meh, hope he as good or better I guess

I'm not sure what is left to discuss. Or what is the purpose? What are you trying to achieve? Unless you just want to argue with people.

Did we all assume he was going to LA? Or better said, did you really expect SF to be the spot? No, we all thought it wasn't going to happen. We hoped, but that isn't enough.

If people blame Farhan or not isn't going to fix that. The issue is people look at each signing individually. If you do that, you aren't assigning blame to Farhan. If you look at it like a pattern of failed singings, you do. That's me. I see less fault in this one as other FAs though as the team setup isnt what Ohtani wanted. Now you can say that's Farhan's fault and I won't argue, but that was Ohtani's choice. Farhan gave a competitive offer.

I don't think there should be another GM with more pressure to sign quality players. I honestly cant think of another team void of stars like the giants. And he knows that. Signing Lee is a good first step but he has to prove he is willing to spend big money. We shall see.
New Ohtani "news" just broke yesterday. Farhan discussed his contract and our efforts yesterday. As much as you want to move on, this is still a story here.

I hope Farhan is able to get a couple more big pieces. He needs to.

LA has all those problems too with even worse gang violence.

I think most of us are cautiously optimistic about the signing. Lee was a stud in Korea. Often times that takes a couple years to translate to success here Look at Kim with the Padres....who on a related note I expect to go hard after next offseason.

It's not like they have to reside in the city. If I was a pro athlete I'm looking for a home in Palo Alto.

Not according to SWH

I hope the team doesn't lean into this.

Most major cities have their issue with homelessness and drugs. LA, Philly, Chicago, and San Diego are still able to sign people.

With that being said, I do think that the recent national media attention that SF gets is generally bad. Shapes perception as buster said.

The national media is all over this especially with homeless and poop. You don't hear that about San Diego for example.
