One name to watch is Chapman, who "certainly is in the Giants' sights," according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle (subscription required).

MLB Network insider Jon Paul Morosi identified Chapman as a possibility for the Giants during Wednesday's episode of MLB Central due in part to the 30-year-old's familiarity with Bob Melvin; the Giants' new skipper managed Chapman for the first five seasons of his career with the A's, from 2017-21. It's also worth noting that Lee and Chapman are both represented by Scott Boras.

"This is a very solid next step for the San Francisco Giants," Morosi said of Chapman.

this one is a real possibility because the giants are one of the few teams desperate enough to give this dude way more money than he's worth
What does everyone think about acquiring Arozarena?

Read a trade proposal might require Matos + Whisenhunt to pull off.

Worth it?

Matos is a similar player to the Korean player they just got. Speed, defense and some hitting but nit a lot of power.

I'd do this immediately. Wouldn't even think twice.

Consider, he's a 3.5 WAR player, Chapman is 4.4 and you get to keep your prospects

Shiiiit I went to San Diego for the first time back in August for a Giants game. The entire walk to the ball park was nothing but tents on the sidewalk, and homeless people chillin all over. And definitely saw some human poop on the ground. Went a different way back to the hotel after the game, and it was a little better. But just driving around the city in that area made it look like a dump.

Same goes for LA. Was there for a Giants game at dodger stadium in 2022 and it was a sh*thole. Areas where all you could see was tents bunched up all over each other, and just trash covering the ground all over.

I haven't been to SF in 10 years, but is it really that much worse then what I saw in SD and LA?

yo i agree.. SD is beautiful but man it was pretty bad when i was out there too.. homeless were definintely on something

If we are using FA to add elite pitching we have to bolster our offense with drafting and trades

Matos doesn't have a place on the major league roster to develop unless we trade Haniger/Conforto/Slater etc.

Arozarena has 2 more years of team control before he hits FA (I think)

The pain to me is losing Whisenhunt but that is our only realistic trade chip

As for WAR they don't play the same position...Arozarena would be our best OF without question

I don't value OF over IF, you need both
we just signed a guy in the OF to a large deal, we have big contracts for the corner OF I think we have to ask those guys to start living up to their deals

slater and yaz need to be released, no reason for matos to lose a spot to either of them.

"Whether that's all completely fair or not, perception is reality. It's a frustrating cycle, I think, and not just with baseball. Baseball is secondary to life and the important things in life. But as far as a free-agent pursuit goes, I have seen that it does affect things."

The City is part of the problem according to Posey.

thats a excuse, the giants play in the good part of sf. la has more crime then sf can ever dream of having and its not a issue

Matos's power will come, its too early to trade him, he jumped many levels last year.
