One name to watch is Chapman, who "certainly is in the Giants' sights," according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle (subscription required).

MLB Network insider Jon Paul Morosi identified Chapman as a possibility for the Giants during Wednesday's episode of MLB Central due in part to the 30-year-old's familiarity with Bob Melvin; the Giants' new skipper managed Chapman for the first five seasons of his career with the A's, from 2017-21. It's also worth noting that Lee and Chapman are both represented by Scott Boras.

"This is a very solid next step for the San Francisco Giants," Morosi said of Chapman.

this one is a real possibility because the giants are one of the few teams desperate enough to give this dude way more money than he's worth

this would be a terrible signing.
its official. glasnow to the dodgers + emmanuel margot for SP Ryan Pepiot and OF Jonny Deluca.(who the f**k are these guys? i don't think they are top prospects)

Deal is contingent on an extension for Glasnow..

What does everyone think about acquiring Arozarena?

Read a trade proposal might require Matos + Whisenhunt to pull off.

Worth it?
I dont care about Matos but I am not giving up Whisenhunt in this deal. Make it Matos and Beck/ Winn/ Black or any other pitcher in our system. I would keep Harrison and Whisenhunt moving forward and hope they can be part of a great young rotation with Webb.

Yup. I think its almost a certainty that the Giants overpay Chapman unless Toronto decides to do it as well and keep their man. I just dont see the love for a guy who is an average MLB hitter at best.
It's official, Lee is a Giant
Dude glasnow to dodgers , how is this fair, they just sign all top players , it's so disheartening

They did not give up a ton in terms of prospects, I'm curious what his contract will be
So Lee's nickname from the KBO is the Grandson of the Wind.

I like it.

Matos is a similar player to the Korean player they just got. Speed, defense and some hitting but nit a lot of power.

Matos's power will come, its too early to trade him, he jumped many levels last year.

We don't know that it will. He only had 46 HRs in 4 seasons in the minors. He's 5'11" and 170 lbs. Not exactly built for power.
omg ESPN ALREADY with the Ohtani overkill.

At least we can say he might hit for power as he ages, he'll be 22 for next season. You have to assume he'll eventually bulk up

Seiya Suzuki's camp said this 2 years ago. They said in Japan, the city of SF has a stigma for being dirty and crime ridden, and Japanese players tend to avoid. Its not an excuse, its reality.

Obviously LA has the same issues, but its about perception.

At this point just bring in guys to make the team watchable. I would normally argue that spending money on guys that will help right now, but might not be useful when the team is actually ready to win is a waste, but they need to get the fans back. It's unfortunate that this years f/a class is so bad.

Wearing Ichiro's number.
