This is why I feel like we need to just replace Melvin, I do think Farhan & Pete Putila are starting to see some dividends from their prospects and player development.

I hate to always be negative, but what dividends are you seeing?

Ramos? Not their regime.
Bailey? Been one of the worst hitters in baseball for months
Fitzgerald? I suppose, but I cant see this continuing. Fingers crossed I am wrong, but was never thought of as a big time progress.
Birdsong? The carriage has turned back into a pumpkin.
Wisely? Not a starting level player.
Luciano? Farhan should be shot for how he has handled him....and Marco wasnt his guy anyway.
McCray? dont see him being a Major Leaguer for long.
Encarnacion? He has exceeded expectations but he is slowly going downhill.

So what exactly are you seeing pay dividends dude? Or are you just talking about some minor leaguers doing well in the minor leagues?

I want to replace Melvin, like now... some people want both Melvin and Farhan gone, I am advocating for just the former. Is that really that hard to see? Farhan & co. have seen some good progress not only in development of guys they inherited but guys they have drafted finally this year for the first time. (Beyond Pat Bailey in 2023)

You talked about a prospect and then said this is why I want Melvin fired. Read what you wrote dummy. The two aren't connected.

if you want Melvin fired, fine. But wtf does that have to do with Eldridge.

I'm saying youre starting to see some dividends. I'm simply stating there was positive progress being made. Please don't exaggerate what I'm saying. In my eyes, he's done enough to stay on but we need to replacement Melvin.

Kyle Harrison. Birdsong still young. Fitzgerald is good. Ryan Walker.
They got Eldridge, Reggie Crawford, Whisenhunt coming up. Bailey clearly wearing down over the season, they need to get a quality damn backup catcher to relieve some load off his plate.

Before last year, all quality producing prospects they saw from guys they drafted was Andrew Bailey.

And I explained that thought in the second half of that paragraph, sounds to me like you aren't reading the entire post.

I'm not exaggerating anything. I just dont see what you are seeing. Even if you are just saying "starting to."

Harrison I guess has been ok. I was disappointed by him, but I guess you can count him.

Birdsong is young, but being young cant be the measuring stick. He started off as a nice story but has crashed and burned recently. Id be shocked if he is ever part of our rotation.

Fitzgerald is ok. I cant see him as an everyday player, but he has been a pleasant surprise this year. I will give you this one.

Ryan Walker? LOL. Farhan didnt draft him.

What we have "coming up" couldnt mean less to me. Until the arrive and they actually show promise, what they do in the minors is meaningless. We have had far too many Todd Lindens and Mac Williamsons to count our chickens before they hatch.

What does Fitz need to do to make you see him as an everyday player? Would you be saying this if he was a first rd pick? I mean, the guy has 14 homers and 16 sbs in less than half a season of games played. He strikes out too much to likely be a star but he certainly has shown the skills to be an everyday Giants starter
Melvin was a mistake hire from the get go please fire his ass so we can maybe right the ship or get a head start on finding the right manager.

what. Eldridge's success has nothing to do with Melvin. And Melvin isnt the one who decides his path in the minors. You think Melvin should be fired because some of Farhan and Putila's players are showing dividends? What does that have to do with Melvin.

I am fine withe replacing Melvin as I think he's pretty mid. But your connection makes no sense. A), steve already pointed out some of the players aren't Farhan's. B) Melvin no doubt had more success from the call ups than the previous meat head. See Ramos. Under Melvin, he became an all-start. Under meat head, he looked like a bust. Fitz looks like someone capable of playing everyday and producing. Wisely even had way more success than under meat head. So if your measure is developing players, than Melvin is a better option

My biggest beef with Melvin is I dont think he handles the pitching rotation very well. Which is alarming for a manager who was once a catcher. And some late game decisions aren't great either. Neithe of that has to do with playing young players. He had nothing to do with the mismanagement of Luciano.

Question.

If the FO lets both Farhan and Melvin go, who should we hire?

my guess is they both get another year.

Simple. Make Melvin the GM and Farhan the manager. That would be about right for this ownership group.
We're all frustrated by this team's problems scoring runs when they get guys on base. Two on and nobody out and they get no runs. It's happened over and over this year. What frustrates me even more is taking thse called 3rd strikes.

I don't mind guys swinging and missing at balls a foot outside because pitchers have such nasty breaking stuff now. We see even the best hitters swinging at those pitches. What bothers me the most is taking called 3rd strikes that are often right down the middle. I understand that hitters today are looking for specific pitches and often guess wrong but you can't do that with 2 strikes. You have to be ready to swing at anything close to the strike zone. Maybe you miss but you at least have a chance if you swing.

I don't think Farhan is getting another year.

Even with Kyle's struggles I think he's gonna be awesome in a year or two
