I get what you are saying, but there is absolutely nothing significant about Ramos' homerun ball. Nothing. How many baseball fans in the world would find the first splash hit by a right handed batter to be interesting and something they would want to see displayed?

Yeah, i don't agree. But cool.

You think this ball is significant? Its all opinion, but let me ask you this. You live in Washington, if I remember correctly. How many Nationals fans do you think would be interested in seeing this ball?

In the HOF? Probably most who toured would think its cool. A park open for 24 years and finally a RH hitter has a splash hit. I assume as they go down the exhibits they say oh wow. That is crazy. No different than a midget getting one at bat. Or perfect games. No hitters. Stolen base records. Or any of the other exhibits that aren't related to stats and HOF players. Which there are quite a few.

As far as to the giants fans, more. And the giants should give a better offer to the guy that caught it. Because he could make money, but more importantly, the giants want to display it long term. They are being cheap. Go figure.

Yeah I guess we gotta agree to disagree on this one. I dont think any non-Giant fan would give a damn about a splash hit. I think the Giants fans would think its cool though, and probably would fit right in with the behind home plate memorabilia display on the club level.
I didn't watch the game last night. I actually forgot they were playing early. I just checked the box score and saw that neither Luciano or Matos got in the game. I don't get it. Have they just given up on these guys?

I thought Matos was sent back down a few days ago.

There are only 5 games left for Sacramento. Why not just let him get some more ABs in the majors. The Giants insist on playing guys that aren't likely to be part of the future of this team. I hope they don't rush Eldridge up next year and then start moving him up and down or sitting him for days at a time. My biggest disappointment in this team is the way they're handling young players.

Hell of a game last night. Went to Birdland and must have seen at least 500 other Giants fans there! Lock up Snell ASAP.

check google news today. they ran a piece saying Posey is essentially the new president of operations for the giants.

I'm basing the value on the idea that 1 of 105 Splash Hits cant be worth anything, logically. 105 isnt even counting the 61 that opposing players have hit. There have been legends who have hit the ball into the water, and those arent worth anything. So why would a Heliot Ramos ball be worth anything at all? Its worth far more to Ramos and the Giants than it would be in terms of value.

And by all accounts, Dave is an a**hole. The fact that he considers his hobby "work" speaks volumes of how he carries himself and what he thinks of himself. He is a nobody. He is on record saying that Ramos needs to "earn the ball" from him. He brings baseballs to the stadium to autograph for people. He claims to be a true fan but he makes everything about himself.

A family friend of ours knows him well, and says he is a really nice, genuine guy. I've spoken with him on social media DM's, and when I told him I had just taken my son to his first baseball game he sent him a splash foul ball from that game. Painting him as this greedy a**hole just because he doesn't want to give up a HR ball is ridiculous.

He's no different from any other passionate fan who puts in a ton of time and effort into supporting the team. People want to take pics with him and get his autograph.

Just because you don't see any value in the only righty splash hit ball doesn't mean its not significant or interesting to others.

Are you talking about the article regarding the conflicting reports about the Chapman contract involvement? Posey has always maintained that be values his privacy and his family time. I HIGHLY doubt he's interested in being President of Baseball Ops, which would involve a ton of hours and speaking with the media. I think Posey saw the Giants were stuck at the end of negotiations and he tried to help close the gap, and that's all it is.

I am aware what he said, but things could change. Even if temporary. I saw an article on google news today that said he's basically doing the job now without being in the job. I think Posey cares, and although he might not want a job like that long term, I can see him wanting to fix things in the short term. I would say its a wait and see thing. You never know how his position might change.

Whatever Posey can do to help is fine. We all know that this organization needs some type of shot in the arm.
