What are you expecting them to do when they lost money and ownership wants to lower the payroll. Given that I expect they will rely more and more on the farm system where rather than trying to sign a big name. I would actually prefer they develop their own big name if they can.

So in a season where we weren't in contention and you get multiple offers for a player that won't be on the team next year, you just sit on your hands and don't move the player? That makes zero sense.

Well, I guess Farhan was still in charge so it's plausible.
Posey moving the analytics team to another facility. They had a prominent spot in the main location. They'll use analytics but not like anything like the last leadership did.

Will Clark highlighted it in his podcast.

Everyone got excited about Posey? Don't. He doesn't control the team purse. Just like Sabean, Evans and Zaidi didn't. He'll have to dumpster dive to find the unexpected gem or bring in one time great players who had been injured or in the decline for a few years on the prove it basis trying to prove themselves one more time. And pray they do.

The Giants had one of the highest payrolls in the game last year, and have made mega offers to multiple superstars over the last few years. It's just that nobody wants to come here.

With the front office declaring that they want to lower the payroll it's unlikely that they will be trying to sign any big names. The reportedly lost money last year. Rich people hate losing money more than poor people.

They lost money because they don't have a drawing card. They have to spend money to make money. If they like profits they better get more talent in here.

They've at least shown they'll try to spend money on big names it's just no one will take their money unless it's someone with an ankle injury. They say they want to lower payroll but I expect them to go after the likes of Soto, will they get him of course not but they'll go after major names
Here we go again.

Will be interesting to see if Doval gets dealt.

Considering they want to reduce payroll by $25 million, that wouldn't surprise me.

that's a rumor still, not confirmed.

So if they get Soto how do they lower the payroll. Conflicting messages. I don't agree 100% that they lost money because they didn't have a big name. Wins can be a drawing card. If the team was in contention all year instead of fighting to get back to .500 they would still draw. If they showed a consistent plan with the young players, fans would still show up. It was too much one step forward, 2 steps back. Bring a player up for 2 weeks and then send him down. No real plan.

I know they're planning on an OF with Ramos in left and Lee in center next year. Fine except we saw Lee for 33 games and he didn't exactly tear it up at the plate. The book is still open on whether he can hit at the major league level over a full season. Ramos made huge strides but he really tailed off after the all star game. His first half of the season was far better than anything he shwed in his previous years in pro baseball. Can he repeat that or was it a one year flash. We'll see.

I'm hopeful but I've seen way too many athletes have a huge season and never be able to repeat it. Call me cautiously optimistic.
Dodgers are favored to land Roki Sasaki, #1 japan pitcher.

He's 23, 6'4 and throws elite stuff. Not super refined but supreme arm talent... now that LA has Ohtani and Yamamoto, good luck to anyone else signing Japanese players.

Rich continue to get richer.

There are recent reports that San Diego could be a possible landing spot as well, as supposedly Darvish is trying to recruit him there.

I am very curious how much he's going to get paid... the thought is these players coming over from Japan want top dollar... rightfully so. So, if LA is going to give out these $300m contracts to them, no one else has a shot.

this is all a consequence of LA being broke and MLB bailed them out, i don't see MLB do that for the As
