We are so f**ked

lmao.

They should go after Soto and Tucker. And Adames and Kim. They need to improve the lineup and they need a star. You can see it in the empty seats.

Hitting and pitching is a must. You can't win with just speed, pitching defense. They need to replace Snell unless he wants to come back on a longer term contract.

our 3 championships say otherwise. 2) But I agree getting quality FA hitters has always been our issue as a franchise.

I think you forget the hitters that produced on that team. Also, show me the WS winning teams in the last decade without star hitters. You can include who they played if you want also. Pitching is a huge plus going into the playoffs, but you need hitting. And anyone who thinks this giants team has the pitching of our WS winning teams is nuts.

Nah, they really dont. We had very timely hitting and we had at least 3-4 players on each of those teams that would be the best hitter on our current team.

the game seems so much different now compared to those teams.

I think if anything you need quality hitters and strong bullpen now.

Please, please don't ever compare out 3 championships to 2024. That's like comparing apples and oranges. Absolutely different landscape and circumstances. What had transpired back than does not come close to what it is now.

More important besides who produced and pitched back then, is NL West landscape. Other than CO, not even in the same stratosphere.
Update.

odd thing to say, particularly when we tapped the legend from that era to lead the current iteration.

It is not about the players but the division. 2010-2012 the Giants were practically guaranteed the division coming to spring training. 2011 was the year Posey got hurt. Allowing Sabean who couldn't field both pitching and offense on the mandated budget, to concentrate on one side of equation, what's winning the playoff games: pitching and defense. Once the Dodgers were relieved from McCord and sold to the real ownership group, I have said the Giants will not see the division for the long, long time (2021 being a miracle aberration). They've caught 2014 to get in as the wild card and used the same formula in the playoffs one last time as before to win one more. Tell me other than Posey, who were the hitters on those championship teams. Rejects, has beens and bunch of guys picked up from the couches before the season.

It also didn't hurt to pick up 3 pitching studs coming up the same time on the rookie deals.
How is all of that can be compared to now when Dodgers and Padres buying all-star teams, AZ is good, and the Giants can only seat and watch.

i hope they do sign him. that way we can have zero expectations going into the season and save us from future disappointment.

I do too, but for a different reason. I don't have any expectations anyway, at least not until I see anything warranted to have some. But them buying Soto will only reiterate and strengthen the Dodgers hores selling themselves for their titles and cheapening them. And maybe, hopefully force the MLB to institute hard salary cap.

I can see that. But I can also see that not being a big deal down the road.

Does anyone cheapen the yankees titles when they won the world series with no real playoffs? No.

The MLB needs a salary floor. That is the issue, not there being no salary cap.
