he was in our org for 14 years, 3 as GM and has a WS under his belt as a GM... i think you are disparaging this guy like he's some nincompoop... this is an accomplished baseball front office exec... not some bum. Is he the greatest gm ever? no... but im sure he has value to offer buster, he needs guys to lean on until he figures out how he wants to run this org.
Sure does not.
But you are right. He was part of the organization during our run. He was just awful as a GM after said run.
Yeah Sabean was GM for all 3 titles. Evans was Sabean's right hand guy for that entire run, so while he might have dropped the ball trying to continue the dynasty, he can still provide an opinion with his experience from the glory days.

He had a great year but 6y 151M for a guy who is 31 years old never sounded like a good bet to me.

Who else are we going to spend the money on? Nobody who is better than him is going to sign here.

I'm hoping this is just a peter principle correction
Promoted beyond his usage but back at the proper organizational level now

Yea you're right...sad state of the franchise. Hoping Posey can help rebuild this team or at least make them entertaining again.

He should hire MadBum as first base coach just so we could see him get ejected every other game.
Huray, our starting right fielded is back. On the one-year deal. The starting lineup is complete now with shortstop Kim on the way.
You don't cut that much payroll and go serious shopping spree when you were dumpster diving with the bigger payroll. The ownership will use Posey's "fresh face and celebrity status" to pump up the image, but you don't rearrange the chairs on the Titanic and hope for a better result if the captain is the same guy. If the same results will follow for the next 5-6 years, we'll be looking at Posey the same way we were looking at Zaidi last year. Remember, Zaidi was anointed the smartest guy in the room when hired.

I can't see anyone trading for a 9 million dollar 4th OF now. We might be stuck with him.

My guess is they platoon Yaz with a right handed hitter. It remains to be seen who that will be. Center will be Lee and Ramos in left. That leaves McCray and Matos as backups. Plus whoever else comes out of the minors. They still need a good DH.
