Pretty sure they're going to sign a starting pitcher. Maybe a DH as well.

I think Burnes said he will sign with the Giants if all the offers are the same. So if someone comes in with a more money...G's could be hosed.

That is always the problem to go after FAs under that prick. He creates the bidding war among the suitors and waits to squeeze the last ounce of what he wants. And you likely wind up with shooting yourself in the foot (like giving up opt outs ala Snell) or drastically overpaying, which the Giants don't usually do (or won't do with Burnes on the heels of paying Adames and Chapman). And if they don't get Burnes or at least Sasaki (they are a long shot to get him), the Adames signing by itself doesn't move the needle enough to talk WC. I would argue not only they need Burnes but another power bat even on somewhat of the decline and thus not cost prohibitive (Goldschmidt comes to mind on the 1-year deal) to share DH / 1st base with Wade Jr. Someone to bat in the 4 hole (maybe between Adames and Chapman) to mitigate the situation if Ramos was a short-term "flush in the pants" until proven otherwise and until hopefully Eldridge is ready to take over 1st base next year.

Pretty much agree, in which case they shouldn't wait around this, they should go out and try to sign someone cause they gonna need another bat and maybe a pitcher even if burnes signs

Want to see this thread active with a Burnes signing! Hoping it works out. Either way, though, it has to make sense for the Giants (putting faith in Buster).

He's getting something like that, so if we want to replace Snell we have to pay up.
