Oh, yes, 4th place indeed. Posey being an ex-star player may be a much better recruiter or salesman than Zaidi was. But like Zaidi, and anyone preceding him, Posey does not control the purse. In the sports without any salary cap restrictions, money talk first and foremost. And once you flush the money, the best recruiting pitch matters. But you absolutely have to flush enough money with it. OK, forget LA argument. I'd love to hear from anyone how San Diego and AZ have more money than the Giants.

lol AZ with the steal again, just like with Greinke. They can offer less money and win out because of the income taxes.
Dam this has been a horrible year, can 2024 be over already
How do we get outdone by the Arizona friggin diamondbacks lol wow just wow

We allegedly had the higher offer but yeah taxes could be the reason why… pretty bad reason to pick a franchise imo. I think he will be a bust.

Burnes also got his opt out option, which is a no-go for Posey.

No doubt taxes were part of the decision. But, he also got the opt out that he wanted and gets to go to a much better team that can contend for a playoff spot. All are wins for him.
Maybe he ends up being a bust like Bumgarner was with them. Now the Giants need to focus on that Japanese pitcher and a DH.

Didn't get out done at all, Burnes and his wife preference was AZ since they live there in the off season they just had twins and AZ gave him the opt out. Nothing the Giants could've done and it makes sense why he signed there, it has nothing to do with the city, ownership blah blah blah it was the player's preference at the end of the day

Don't come in here talking with common sense, bruh. It's about hot takes.

The opt out seemed very important, to Boras at least. Another advantage for AZ is any player who has spent ST there has some familiarity with the area, so they are probably comfortable moving there. Some guys even already have a house or condo in AZ because of ST.

The DBacks owner is also a big time card collector, and seems prone to making high priced, impulsive purchases. He is willing to jump in last minute and outbid other teams, seemingly without really thinking it through. He talked about the Montgomery signing last year being his impulse, and that it ended up being a terrible decision.
SF is a much better pitchers park than Arizona. I hope they can convince at least one starting pitcher that they should sign.
Does anyone like the proposed golden batter rule. I think it's terrible but I'd like to hear some opinions on it. Not much else to discuss yet.

Nobody likes it. It would completely destroy the integrity of the sport.
