Arizona Taxes >>>> California

Their team's talent >>> Ours

Sasaki next month is going to say it was very cool to meet Buster Posey...and then sign with the Dodgers.

Does anyone like the proposed golden batter rule. I think it's terrible but I'd like to hear some opinions on it. Not much else to discuss yet.
Its the stupidest idea ever. Anyone who likes it is a moron

If not the Dodgers then I would bet on the Padres. It sure as hell wont be the Giants

It was mostly about the opt out. Ironically if Farhan had still been the GM he definitely offers that opt out and Burnes is probably a Giant right now.

100 percent, anyone who thinks he signing with anyone but the dodgers is delusional
I wouldn't want any player that signs with a team becuse they live in a state with low taxes. That tells me they're just in it for thre money. When you make several million per year you're going to have more money than you'll ever need even with California taxes. Is that extra 10% going to make a difference in your life. Not bloody likely.

lol. Then you won't get any stars. The contract is separate from playing. This is once in a lifetime money for them. And most really don't have job skills when they are done. So this is it. I would never fault anyone for making a real life decision that impacts them, their family and future children.

Other than a mid level player who signs with a team where they can play (and they still factor in money), all players are looking at the deal and where they want to be and weighing pros and cons.

lol I hate to spoil your fantasy, but players dont put "the love of the game" as their top priority. They're trying to secure generational wealth. Situation and location are great tiebreakers, but they aren't taking significant discounts to wear a certain uniform.

i see room for 2 additions. i am holding out hope for flaherty and scherzer. it would be fun to have a legend like scherzer on roster for a season. he's an all timer.

Really? Last checked the Dodgers and Padres are both in California. They have more than a few stars. Arizona has a flat 2.5 % tax. That's 11% below California's top rate. Doing the math that works out to $2.2 million less tax per year on a $20 million per year contract. It may actually be less since most wealthy people have tax experts that find all kinds of write offs. That stillmleaves about $18 million per year. You don't think that's enough to help secure their future? These guys are going to make millions no matter where they play. When their retired and looking back on their career a few extra million ins't going to make up for not having a chance at a championship or being able to play in front of your home fans.
