Salaries will continue to go up as other teams try to keep up with LA and the NY teams.
Sadly, this will likely never happen. The players association is too strong.

What fans should do is what I am going to do. That is to not go to 1 game, not watch a game on tv, and ignore the product entirely. The only thing players and owners understand is money and drastically falling attendance and ratings might be a wake up call.

Another thing that should happen is for ALL players who want to be in major league baseball be subject to the regular draft. Players in Japan and elsewhere go to whatever teams drafts them in the June draft.

all of this

Except the not watching part. I'm going to watch on tv because that changes nothing. And they don't care. I love baseball and I'm not going to let them take that from me.
I've lost virtually all interest and that includes watching games on TV. To watch you have to pay and that is something I refuse to do now.

I'm outside DC and don't pay. It's 2025 John lol
The novelty of Justin Verlander pitching in a Giants uniform will be interesting, for about 6 starts until he gets hurt or starts getting smashed and has to move to the bullpen. Other than that we all know how this season is going to turn out. Signing Adames was something, but hes not a superstar. Hes not going to change the fortunes of the team.

We'll win 84 games, finish outside the WC race, and the Dodgers will win 105+.

Unfortunately the Giants are caught in a tough spot. No superstar is going to sign here until were competing with LA, and we can't compete with LA without signing superstars like they do. The only other option is drafting insanely well and building a team of homegrown stars, which is very unlikely.

I live in So Cal and would have to pay to watch the Giants. How can you watch them without paying? I was referring to them and not baseball in general. I can watch the Dodgers and Angels for free but wont
This is just getting crazy now, this is why baseball so unpopular, you don't even give all cities a fair chance
What's the point of even watching baseball , the dodgers just gonna win , baseball is ruined
Dodgers signing everyone like they were last place last year and not the champs, take notes giants

Same - I will continue watching only Giants games here and there but will never pay extra to watch one of their games (I live in the Bay Area and watch them on CSN Bay Area on DIRECTV as part of the channels I receive).

It's tough to just completely stop watching them as I've been a fan since the Jack Clark & Johnnie LeMaster days. MLB is my 2nd favorite pro league with the NFL being far and away #1. But definitely agree with John…something needs to be done sooner than later or it will continue to be lopsided in spending to acquire top talent. Also like the idea that every player coming into MLB should go through the draft process.
This year my wife finally wants to go to more games too lmao fml

Went to UCSB and would love to retire in SB if possible - would probably have to stream or pay extra to watch Giants games down there? I remember in college I was able to watch every Niners game because I believe a station in SLO would show their games, thankfully.

I also went to UCSB (many years before you!) and live about an hour from SB. I have paid for the MLB package in the past to watch the Giants but that is when they were competitive and the Dodgers werent paying for titles. No mas.
when can Skenes sign with the dodgers? two more years right?

hopefully we can build something by then

Go Gauchos! Many years before me, huh? I was Class of '91. 🙂

If I ever moved back down there, I might not pay for the MLB package either given what we've been seeing with the league as discussed.
Tanner Scott, $70m?

PFFTT

Giants signed Joey Lucchesi to a 1 year $1.5m minor league deal. Check and mate.
