First of all, where did that Giants payroll of $429M came from? Giants 2024 payroll was around $209M. It stands at $184M for 40 players currently on the roster. $25M reduction just as they planned.
Secondly, what did Baer said when asked about the Dodgers? Yeh, we don't look at the Dodgers. We know what that means, how can he acknowledge the Dodgers millennials ahead and he is "preaching" MEASURED APPROACH. We also know what his "preaching" means, hence the "dollar store" the rest of the way, as I had predicted. And as I predict, Posey may be a much better President than Zaidi as the salesman, mover and shaker and has better recognition around the league. But as long as he is under the ownership financial jackboot, the best he'll do is incrementally improve the club, pray that everything on the field (signings, batting, D, pitching) turn the best way possible and hope to laboriously sneak into the playoffs somehow (big IF).

I don't know where those payroll numbers came from. The Giants weren't even close to $463 mil. The Dodgers were 4th highest in 2024 at around $26 mil. This year theyre expected to be about $370 mil. I thin maybe thise figures are the entire amount they're carrying on the books,. Not Hiw much they paid during ine season. That would make sense since Ohtani is is making $1 million per year but has nearly $700 million on the books.

i think these are how much cash has the team doled out in the offseason. for example we signed adames and we extended chapman. those two deals push up to 330 or so million. it's a lot of future seasons we are buying. those are very long term deals. you can tell it's not payroll cuz miami is at 5m. no mlb team has a payroll that low. it's just saying miami hasn't bought any players this offseason.

I'm pretty sure it includes all the money in a players contract. Not what they are actually paying in a given season. If you look it up the payroll numbers broken down by season aren't even close to the ones on that chart.

I'll believe it when I see it. What I do see now is 12M of Baer's "measured approach" out the door. Well, there is the talk of Scherzer on the Verlander like money (1 yr. 15M I believe) and would move Hicks to pen. That would be much more realistic than Alonso.
Pete would want to play 1B. Eldridge is the future 1B. I doubt Pete wants to DH.

very interesting. Not a huge loss. Miller took his role anyway

Media asked Buster about this trade and he basically said they are done for now. He's putting faith in the young guns.

They content with being 4th in the division for now is what that translates to
