shohei for luciano and reggie crawford
Crazy how the LA teams always mangae to sign superstars . They don't seem to care about the higher taxes. Over the years the Lakers have traded or signed as free agents Wilt, Kareem, Kobe, Shaq, Gasol, LeBron, AD and now Luka. Unreal. Then we have the Dodgers signing everyone . The Rams traded for Stafford who is one of the best arm talents ofthe last 15 years.

The LA market seems to be a desirable spot for pro athletes. Mybe it's the weather or the lifestyle. Maybe it's the proxiity to Hollywood and the media. Whatever it is it's tough for SF fans to keep watching them land star after star.

It is a LOT of different reasons. But one thing is for absolute certain.....California taxes are NOT a reason why we cant sign anyone.

Agreed. Taxes may matter for the guys making minimum or close to it but for the top earners it isn't a big deal. They're wealthy no matter where the play.
Taxes, winning, more endorsements in the LA market, get to be around movie stars, hot women, etc. it's not really that hard to imagine.
jack flaherty signed for 2 years 35m

Its money and having the chance to win every year. That is why the Dodgers get the stars.

And a better market for endorsements. Which is more money.

I think the current situation in LA comes down to the owners willing to pay whatever it takes. Once they started signing the big names it became a place where other players wanted to go. The weather and proximity to the media and endorsments has always been there. What's changed is the way they pursue star players. They used to rely more on their farm system. Now they have both but the free agents are the main part of their team.
